I ended up with some degraded quills after unpacking a bunch of library supplies. I didn't really think twice about it, but maybe something similar happened?

I will try to pay more attention if I see it happen again.

Stalin, would you copy the reaction here, to see if anything's wrong with it?

It's not the reaction it's a material/inorganic problem. Although then again the reaction may be producing the wrong inorganic...

Removed the reagent and spammed it for a while and confirmed that the reaction was what produced the magma.

EDIT:It was because of my tinkering.

Szarrukin what did you embark with?

Swamp whiskey, meat, picks, and muck roots. Oh, and 4 sheeps.

Were the picks made of anything unusual?

It may have been the barrels that the beer was contained in. An unknown tree type resulting in it transforming into magma. Would also explain the explosion

Copper picks. And yes, barrels were somewhat unusual - made of crystal, netherwood, et cetera

OK, I've embarked again, same stuff. Barrels were made of:

- Armok's thorntree (sounds like something VERY flammable)
- featherwod
- fleece
- shadethorn
- glumprong
- devil thorn
- and regular wood

Luckily, this time I've encountered only minor, harmless blue blast at the beginning, and nothing more.

Actually I think it's a more general problem. It looks like he's got duped raws. Dwarves shouldn't have access to most of those woods and Fleece definitely shouldn't be a barrel material.

I thought that was obvious? :) Yeah he's activated some dodgy settings in the settings.exe . Set them back to the default and dont tinker with the "simple trees/more trees/whatever" options. Don't touch these :P They're broken.

Anyone have the magma smelter and magma crucible reactions for creating pig iron and steel creating slag with the Slag Pit turned off?

Haven't tested with the non magma versions or the Blast Furnace, or any other alloys, but I could try a few out.

I didn't mess with the tileset button on the UI or anything like that either, so not sure if I messed something else up.

Actually the problems from more trees and more plants turned on have been sorted.

Someone, get the bug zapper! What do you mean that won't work on a bug the size of a house which glows? No, I don't want to hear it. Just get the damn zapper.

Ok, could someone please repeat this in some order?

Magma from open bag of loots = self-made bug from meddling with the raws
Fire from embark, with odd barrel materials = That sounds like duplicate raws. What did you do? Please check your errorlog for the word "DUPLICATE"

Broseph: Ups, forgot about the pentagram, I was testing the ITEM_SYMBOL. But dirt/peat should work, I have used both successfully. I even embarked with 100 dirt once (because its free) to build a quick dirt-wall around me.

Traders also bring dirt. Stupid elves, should kill them for trying to sell me dirt, or, well, just for being elves.
