Should Scaleplate/Chitinplate/Shellplate reduced to "Scale/Chitin/Shell", and "Rigid X-plate" to "X-plate". It would shorten names a lot.

Yes. Text gets cut off too often.
No. I dont care/like the names as they are.
Dont you have anything better to do then making such tiny adjustements?

The word "cobalt" comes from German "kobold". It's named such because of the arsenic fumes that comes from smelting Cobaltite often caused some health issues with those who try to smelt it.
Cobaltite itself is actually red or gray, and the metal Cobalt is a fairly boring gray metal. Cobalt blue the dye comes from sintering (cooking powders together) Cobalt Oxide and Alumina.

Perhaps welded cobalt could be easier to make and equal in effectiveness to steel, but smelting Cobaltite itself could give only 3/4 the metal and/or have a small chance of letting out arsenic fumes regardless of harder smelting settings.

(I love modding minerals, btw)

Jimboo/Putnam: Hu... that was a lot of nice info, thanks.

Gamerlord: Finally getting to Germany... flight is ~50h delayed, we had one night in a hotel in bangkok (awesome hotel with unlimited awesome food), and then a 12h flight, and now a 30h (again, free hotel, but crappy this time) stay in oslo. Tomorrow late evening I get home. My girlfriend is going mad, while I am like  'Meh', whatever. ;)

And the new 787 plane is quite nice, too :)

That's quite a journey. Stay safe now!

Hmm...according to Wikipedia, cobalt is mostly used in high-tech alloys, since it confers wear-resistance and temperature stability, particularly in prosthetic limbs. You know, if you are going to implement vanadium and other high-tech alloys in the future, it might be neat to implement some kind of cobalt alloy from the same workshop (like with chromium or titanium) to make prosthetic limbs. I know it's a long shot, but its just a thought.

It would take an amount of castes in the billions to support prosthetic limbs. I wouldn't recommend it.

Technically could have syndromes that remove the loss of a BP through DFHack, but I don't think that would stick.

I was just thinking that it would add back the missing limb...if that can be done. You know, as an alternative to the white magic healing. Maybe you can't remove wounds piecemeal like that. But like I said, it was just a thought.

You can remove wounds piecemeal through DFHack, including lost limbs. I'm not sure what affect that would have--it could cause some oddities.

Then again, it'd probably be less oddities than transformation healing.

This so much, not nice when a worker lost a hand by a lucky goblin arrow...  meh

In my fort, I just have Armok (aka me) take pity on the poor soul and I restore the limb by selecting him/her in the unit list and type "fullheal".

Ehm... guys... every transformation regrows all limbs. So singing a song in the tavern, holding a speech on the podium, joining any guild, military group or mage type... they all fully heal anyone doing it. Its a quirk of modding that I cant disable.

Not much, since I have a lot to do in RL.

Chandler, Woodcrafters Workshop, Lighting System (Rendermax), Digging Invaders, new Library system, update the UI, bugfixes and balancing as usual. But dont expect me to release on a weekly basis like lately. Wouldnt surprise me if I dont find time for DF for a while.

Sounds awesome, but DO NOT put in the Digging Invaders without updating the GUI to let us turn them off. For one, I'm probably going to be driven insane by them until I manage to figure out how to coat surround my fortress with magma on every level to block them off.

No worries, thats the plan. Otherwise I would have added them 4 months ago. I am just waiting patiently for the GUI. Same thing with the light/rendermax, because it hurts FPS quite a bit.
