Poll

Should Scaleplate/Chitinplate/Shellplate reduced to "Scale/Chitin/Shell", and "Rigid X-plate" to "X-plate". It would shorten names a lot.

Yes. Text gets cut off too often.
No. I dont care/like the names as they are.
Dont you have anything better to do then making such tiny adjustements?

I like the double wall look and your tileset looks great, I'd play it as default if I had the option.

Not sure if the dwarf was unsuitable, I was unlucky, or it's an issue in the raws, but in my most recent v3 fortress, my gem cutter (who I had join the Jeweler's Guild) is only at skill level 8 after having cut over 350 gems.  I dunno if it has to do with changes in MW itself, but this strikes me as a little egregious if it's functioning as intended.

Jonveck, you did worry me for a second there, I thought maybe harder learning was overwriting the guild... but no. Everything is fine:

Maybe he just does not make a good jeweler.

How grand, masterwork has its own sub-forum.
But, back to suggesting. Can you perhaps think of something to do with kids/babies?
Not as in getting rid of them, but do you think its possible for some sort of 'transformation' involving them?

Like, perhaps a sorcery related workshop magic workshop called a uh Chrono-something, and a new researchable tome, called the tome of time (or alternatively, 'The tome of chronomancy'), that you could then use to advance the kid into an adult dwarfhood. (Although from what I understand, the age on their description would remain the same, despite the 'transformation')

Forget chronomancy, we need to use babies and children as components of horrific beasts!

Heh, perhaps a lesser form of that would be 'branding' kids to a magical, or beast affinity, or something like that.

So guildhalls, but as children? Hm. Maybe.

It could take place at a new magical type workshop, a 'Ceremonial Ground' with a space in the middle of it for the chosen child to be stationed via a burrow.

Hmmm, it sounds a bit more Orc'y than it does Dwarf'y, but perhaps each civ could have things unique to their respective 'ceremonial rite'.

I already made children grow up in 5 years instead of 12, that should be enough. ^^ The only thing I could do is give dwarves 1 natural skill in lets say... stonecrafting. or stone engraving, something very dwarven. All dwarves would get it and kids would do the labor then.

But since that would replace all the peasants, is unbalanced, makes kids work which is not intended, AND you can make kids work with Therapist anyway, AND I have no way of targetting kids themselves, no,I wont do anything with kids.

Alrighty then.
Heh, that was a bit of spurred on co-brainstorming between the two of us.

I understand that in order to have dwarves join castes it costs gold coins, what ways other than forging my own are there to get gold coins?

Gamble in the Tavern. You can also send mercenaries to other civs, or dig up a lot of fossils/old chests. But none of these really give a lot, and gambling requires money in the first place.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if it has been fixed since Masterwork 2.h, but stockpiling for the scriptorium was pretty hard to figure out and set up. (vellum, paper, ink). Is there a way to make it easier in the upcoming bugfix release?

if you can find a good adjective that fits vellum, papyrus and paper, yes. The material determines the stockpiling, and the current ones name is "". Its a blank.

Minor suggestion:

maybe "mithril" and "silver" runes don't need SYN_IMMUNE_CREATURE:DWARF?
That is, you might want them to still be effective against Dwarven undeads and werebeasts.

How about "blank writable" or "blank scroll of"
wait what is the actual object name.. sorry looking up..

... Yeah, OK, the item names are the things Meph listed above {vellum, papyrus and paper}
"blank writable paper"
"blank scroll of paper"
I think that works Ok
