It actually seemed quite similar for me, Sensei. Once I reached it, I gradually lost money over a slow period of time, but I've gotten multiple "superhits" that sold relative extreme amounts and essentially boosted me back up.

I believe ratings mostly matter on your sliders, along with the combo, audience, and of course, tech + design. Like for instance, an action game fares well with more of the Engine slider, etc. http://gamedevtycoon.wikia.com/wiki/Game_Development is fairly useful as a 'cheat sheet', telling you what the combos are, what audiences want what, and such. It does seem to carry a 'cheat' type feel to it, though.

On a different topic, I actually like my "Racers!" series, which is a casual racing game for Youth on mobile devices. It includes "Racers!", "Racers! 2: Roadtrip "Racers! 2: Go Big!" (Console Version), and finally, "Racers! 3: Terrains"
I seem to like giving my games simple names most of the time.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Sometimes I feel like I finally GET the sliders!
Then they kick me in the teeth. I guess it doesn't help that sometimes I don't remember what something like "Engine" really entails...

I managed to make about 2M by making a kick-ass Fantasy/RPG though. I was trying to stay in RPG/Adventure, but I can't really seem to get that to work well outside of Fantasy or Medieval...

You can get a description of the sliders and what they do in Help menu, under Escape button.

I don't really understand why people have trouble with the sliders. It's not like it's all trial and error, it actually mirrors how it works in real life. You don't want a military shooter to have a rich backstory with lots of focus on dialogue, you want it to have guns that go pew pew.

Well, to be honest I would probably enjoy that a lot more, but the majority of people say otherwise.

Here's my question. Can you make Dwarf Fortress?

Project Size: Small
Target: Everyone/Mature(?)
Theme: Fantasy
Genre: Simulation/Strategy (multi-genre)
Graphics: Text-based
Platform: PC
Additional features: must not have any controllers enabled. No mouse control for you

You forgot: No multiplayer and possibly include level-editor (for modding)?

Yeah, no multiplayer, but not Level-editor - there is Modding Support feature. And a random event about modders (support/stop). You know what should you do.

Also, turns out say, Action/RPG =/= RPG/Action

Any way.. anyone of you guys planning on a Let's Play series?
(Youtube vids are nice, but pictures with some roleplay would be great. :p )

Tried DF as multigenre, even made a new engine just for it, failed miserably. Will try pure Simulation next time.

9-10 reviews MMO with 9-10 reviews Expansions...holy fucking money.

When I took it off the market It had 1.3 BILLION in sales (500 million profit) and had sold 90 Million units.

What's it's name? What's it about?
Why do people leave out these important details? :p

Panzer Knights Online a Medieval RPG.

Had two expansions, French Tanks & Mists of Tankaria

The Second expansion adding Self Learning AI because that could never go wrong in a MMO.

They are basically "Sold" like normal games but instead of going off the market automatically they can go on forever, however they have a weekly maintenance that steadily goes up (and sales kinda slow down), when you release an expansion this seems to sort of reset the maintenance amounts and drive up sales so each expansion is sort of a second wind expanding the life of the game, when you deem the game unprofitable and done with you simply take it off the market.

I'm not sure how they would do on a lesser quality game (I really got lucky with the game and both expansions being 9s and 10s) but when I released PKO I had like 40 million and when I took it off the market I had 460 million, so it was a rather profitable venture.

Ah, well I still have a way to go before I can even consider making MMOs.
