well right now there is 3 people on. Granted its kinda late...but...its pretty much a pay to play singleplayer game and I see maybe a tad less than when I tried it. I'll have to look tomorrow. At peak there aws up to 10 people at one time when I was on, maybe 8 or something...close to 10 anyway

I enjoyed the game until the landing on moon annoyed me to no end cause it was the least realistic thing I've seen in a space game lol. It kept teleporting me to the other side of the moon for no reason instead of actually landing on it. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably have played a lot longer and maybe still play it off/on.

It's a shame this game is in the state it's in. There's a great framework and some really cool ideas, it just suffers from network issues and some weird design choices. Even when it was free to play it didn't have that many players. I had a lot of fun times on it in the past b12 empires but it's just not a fun game without other players to play it with lol. He really needs to pick a niche and go for it. Make more pvp content and reasons to fight and flesh out that aspect, or make more cooperative content and more things people can work together toward. Last time I played it kind of got repetitive and boring after a few colonies and pvp was a laggy crash prone joke.

Funny how your moon landing messed up your experience though. For me the moon part was fun. Planning the trip and gathering supplies and flying in a rocket with crates of supplies and carefully landing and roaming around for a bit then setting up a moon base. That was a while ago though so things changed since then. But I didn't have any lag or anything during the moon landing. It was trying to tech up and the repetitive system for expanding that ended up ruining the experience for me.

Oh I remember the moon bug, I got stuck for about 30 minutes once because it would warp me in and out of the moon.
I considered going back to it for a bit one of these days, but the talk about its ship designer and all the crap you have to do with it just instantly turned my interest off.  ::)

Haxus is actually in the process of pushing for Steam release right now, in hopes to pick up new players and potentially earn enough to actually hire people / sustain the project. http://hazeron.com/mybb/showthread.php?tid=438

I'd probably give it a try again if it does, if it brings in enough people. If it releases and its still dead, well haxus said in that post the future of the game would be looking grim. Which despite my complaints, I had a ton of fun with hazeron except the moon thing.

I seriously doubt it will succeed. Not only is it still horribly unbalanced (the economy and money system is still really dumb), but he's releasing it to steam without a wipe, which just won't go over well. The existing players with high tech ships will wipe out everyone near starting near them and reviews will pour in saying how shitty the game is and that people who have been playing while the game was obscure have a huge advantage.

I would be happy to be proven wrong, but I just don't see this going well.

It would take less then a day for a group to get to warp tech with how things were last I played(its was less then a year ago), that makes a wipe almost pointless, the knowledge advantage far exceeds any material advantage. There is also the option of starting off in a remote location which put you in a random spot in the galaxy, very low chance of being nearby anyone else in my experience.

Love Hazeron, but the new ship designer ran me off. I could make decent looking stuff with it, but it took far longer to design and, for me at least, never stopped being a pain to work with.

Is it going to take the monthly subscription with the move to steam?

Perception is everything though, and people won't like competing with people who have hundreds of worlds and tl32 ships from the start. If it was wiped it could be played off as a new game becoming feature complete and releasing on steam. Without the wipe people might see it as one last cash grab from a dead game that's been out off steam for years.

Its going to get panned in user reviews for being a buggy, crappy looking unfinished piece of shit, because thats what it is.  The ship designer finally comitted suicide by switching to full 3d modelling, which is very tedious and unfun for the most part.  The old system was ugly but at least it was very easy to figure out.  This new thing is just hopeless.  Every other aspect of the game is uninteresting, has gone backwards in terms of design quality (economy makes zero sense as has been pointed out), its just generally flooded with bizarre and arbitrary crap, for instance how pricing works, or the whole subsidized/private ship nonsense.

Indeed , its in no shape to go on steam. I also prefered the ancient version, when you were building your town on a  2D grid. Game was indeed better before it went to pay to play. Oh and i can confirm syndicate was very toxic, i think there was only them left by the end and no one wants to pay to be locked with them :)
