I've been observing it on the forums since I decided a fair bit ago to reactivate my subscription when the new ship system got added. Then a month later Haxus apparently decided to work on creatures instead.
Apparently I've been doing this for around a year or so. I can see a post of mine saying something similar to what I'm saying now from September 1st 2015.
Recent large changes have been interesting, to say the least. There's the whole procreation and avatar stuff which is, as I said, interesting.
Lots of miscellaneous tweaks and fixes. There are biodomes now. There are a decent amount of large changes, but I really don't want to go searching through the forum posts and internet archive to find them.
Honestly, I'm not fond of where the game is headed. The community is just, well, almost annoying to me - there are two main community members who both act as minimods and the like. I would elaborate but that'd be even more rude. The new creature stuff looks absolutely
horrifying to me. I'm not even sure if I will rejoin since there's a good chance of the syndicate deciding to take over the Galaxy again. Which was the original reason I quit.
But hey! Don't let my pessimism dissuade you. Just about all of it is personal stuff. I'm sure I'd have a fun time if I were to rejoin, but it's mainly the player count preventing me. As I'm writing this, there's a single player online. A single player.
EDIT: This is actually a later edit, but I would just like to restate that most of my complaints are simply because Hazeron is somewhat similar to my "dream game" that I don't see ever being made. So I feel strongly about Hazeron's design and direction even though I have no right to.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and there's a new wurm-style equipment/inventory menu that I really don't like.
EDIT:
Underwater cities. While cool, I
personally think these should have been given more work and thought beforehand - as of now it just seems like they were implemented quickly in a short time period because they were cool and forgotten about.
EDIT: There was also some kind of "quest" line added having to do with relics. This is especially frustrating to me because I personally advocated for this (in my opinion) supercool research system where you would recover ancient artifacts and apply them to your empire, and I also "advocated" for procedural generation. But Haxus apparently does not think alike and implemented a single quest line having to do with relics and the like.
EDIT:
Indigenous people. Haven't seen much about this, but I believe it's like tribes. There's also a conversation mechanic where you can "talk" to your citizens in a fashion similar to MMOs and RPGs. As in like taking to the unnamed citizens who have a single pre made line. I think the aforementioned quest line may be linked to this. Speaking of which, there may be multiple quest lines. I'm not 100% sure.
EDIT: For some reason gravity in ships is now linked to life support instead of the gravity drive??
EDIT: There's a cool "gravel" effect where you see the little particles stream by when flying ships. And their density is based on local nebula density.
EDIT: City abandonment penalties were changed so now as long as a city has a sector capital and the sector capital has an empire capital, it'll be fine. And the empire capital abandonment is based on online statuses and any empire member being online will reset the capital abandonment timer. I think this is how it works now, at least.
EDIT:
Some kind of land terraforming (like terrain height) now.EDIT:
Empire-wide announcements.EDIT: You can make a bomb, that if supplied with large amounts of unique DNA samples, can be used to change the species of a planet. Also useful for genocide, apparently.
