The question is, how much lag will there be?

I hope he gets those "concise playable" projects out of the way quickly and goes back to working on Hazeron. I haven't found a single game out there that's quite like it.

I hope they don't balloon into years of projects. I think we already know about Haxus and project goals.

Well, that'd be part of the reason for this change.  Get his head in the game for reasonable timeframes and goals.

So Haxus just released a game called Gravity Well VI,

http://gw.softwareengineering.com/

Costs $2 to buy, plan to have a look at it in a bit and see how it is.

He also mentioned that he plans to return to Hazeron after one more small game release on the Hazeron website.

Unfortunately, the game (Gravity Well 6) isn't that great right now (needs quite a bit of work, and it has microtransactions to upgrade space fighters in a sort of arcade-style buy something and keep it till you blow up thing).. plus it actually needs a lot of people to buy and play it to even get those multiplayer servers filled.  I'm a bit too shrekked though to actually list everything or call up Haxus to give feedback though due to taking care of grandfather in hospital/home prep 12+ hours a day, so that'll have to be other people.

Buy it if you enjoyed Hazeron and want him to work on it again I guess, as he wants this and another game to sorta help fund Hazeron development if he can get them going.

As someone who played Hazeron on and off for several years with various accounts I doubt I'll be playing Gravity Well 6.

I remember WAY back I played a really early version of Gravity Well where it was just lines shooting dots at other lines and I had some good fun with it but I'm not really drawn to the new one, perhaps the 3D turns me off.

But the big reason for me is that, loath as I am to say it, I don't have much confidence in Haxus to develop and manage this project. Hazeron was an amazing game, but suffered from a variety of longstanding problems that really crippled any hope of a large playerbase. Additionally, at least in my view, he made some questionable design decisions that angered a number of people and for visibly little gain.

In my opinion he hasn't shown sufficient capability to nurture this game to anything beyond a small community.

If he ever ends up reviving Hazeron I'll probably give it a fair crack simply because I desperately want it to succeed, but I'm not interested in a space shooter.

If it turns out that I'm totally wrong and this becomes a success, I'll gladly apologise.

News: apparently Haxus has been convinced to bring back Hazeron in a limited fashion (drastically reduced number of systems and servers) to sit while he works on his third game. He would restore the forums as well. (see update on www.hazeron.com as well)

ohmygodohmygodohmygod.

Hazeron is probably one of my favorite games. I can't wait to play it again (and hopefully donate to Haxus)

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

A chance to play this sounds interesting. Making my own species? Ship-builders? I like the sound of all of this and more.
