That's the best definition of peace for any game like this.

I'm really sad to see this go, I had a lot of fun playing in the past, even if Haxus seemed to sometimes be trying to make the game less fun...

It's like, it implemented features that a lot of games boast about wanting to have but don't live up to (see: Spore, everything else). It was great in delivering its truly unique areas. However, it failed in the areas EVERY game has to meet... like not looking and running like ass.

Missed the movement update by a few days...

Well, let's hope someone else comes along and does something similar, with less shittiness I suppose.

Well, it looked a lot like Star Citizen: 1999.

Without pay-to-win (or any method of funding at all).

We're on the Bay 12 forums. One of the most famous games here uses ASCII-like graphics, the other is practically text-based.

WHY ARE WE COMPLAINING ABOUT GRAPHICS?

Eh, a lot of the time when someone says that a game looks like it came out of the 90s they're saying it looks like garbage.

Well, to be frank, it did. DF doesn't look bad, it looks like a roguelike. Hazeron had that whole 90s "we just discovered how to make 3d models" feel. You know, the kind that makes you cringe after you spend one nostalgia-packed week weeding through your dresser for that old game you played twenty years ago. DF is more like the old 2d sprite games of old - it'll look fine 30 years from now just because of the style.

Haxus posted an update on the SoH page:

Shores of Hazeron is morphing into a different game. It may be back sooner than you think, sort of. Ship designs and DNA may play a role. Lots of juicy code needs to be distilled; we'll see what remains.

Check here once in a while for updates.

To be honest, I was optimistically hoping this. Mainly considering how seemingly important Hazeron is to Haxus.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Dunno what to think about this. I want Hazeron to come back, but I don't want a drastically different game that inherits only the name.

I mean, I'm fine with a better engine, or a graphical update, or something along those lines. I just don't want the city development or ship designing or universe exploring aspects to disappear. I liked Hazeron for what it was and nothing else seems able to compete.

If I were to guess, it could be Hazeron minus Emperor 'mode', a bit more polished, and a ton of new stuff regarding the adventurer/empire citizen gameplay. This is entirely based off of what Haxus said in that single statement (Ship Designs and DNA) and what he didn't say (Empire building) so this is definitely a shot in the dark.

I'm sure he has a polished version of hazeron with a ton of new stuff just tucked away somewhere.

There's a certain point where optimism trips over into insanity.

Please tell me he's not going to have an equally messy game and it's actually going to be polished and work well and stuff. This is a good chance to actually make that be a thing that happens.

As for predictions as to what this will be, I'm guessing at it being more like a strategy game. Because DNA and ship design only "may" play a role, it makes me suspect that the focus will be away from individuals and towards civilisations as a whole.
