broken spine

i broke the upper part of my spine fighting a titan, but i managed to kill it, now i was a vampire before it happened so i cant die due to suffocation, however i can't stand or grasp things. How long would it take to recover if i can recover? ive walked around for quite some time.

Nerve damage doesn't regenerate. Your spinal cord is broken. So all you can do is crawl and bite.  :(

If you hadn't already become a vampire, you could have obtained a were-curse from a were-beast which regenerates all damage once a month...

Best course of action is to give your poor guy a retirement. Or maybe give him a career in biting heads off.

Yeah, your guy's toast. Find him a nice village to retire in, or else train biting up to legendary and rename yourself The Python.

mod the tissue raws so that spine bone and nerves regenerate, but make it regenerate super slowly.

If you're really attached to this guy and don't mind cheating, DFHack has a heal command, although I've never used it before. I like my adventurers to have scars and missing teeth...

How do you use heal command in DFHack? My favourite adventurer has some nerve damage and can't use both hands, I want him to rape once again...

This does not work.

When spinal and nervous tissue is damaged, it's severed, which means it'll never heal because it's not connected.  Spinal bones already "regenerate" but that's not what the problem is.

no, thats only for limbs if you get "a motor nerve has been severed" announcement. It works differently for spines, i know this from experience.

There is another way that does not involve modding though, but its only possible if your world is 70% evil or more like mine. Find a huskifying evil region and become a husk, you're practically a undead that doesnt die unless beheaded or bisected. Undead can still naturally heal but have "NO_CONNECTIVITY" so you should be able to stand and move even if your bones and nerves are broken (though losing a leg might be a obvious problem)

. Beware though as every "living" creature will now be your enemy, but undead, necromancers, mummies, vampires, or anything else with "NOT_LIVING" will now be friendly.

Load up DF with DFHack. Navigate to your adventurer's health screen (default z).

Type in DFHack window:

dfusion
3 {misc tools}
5 {heal unit}
