For this years production:
*Patriotism Machine Guns.

For this years engineering:
*Reverse engineer one of the existing biplanes.

*Design a high powered gas aircraft engine, refit the remaining biplane with it, experiment with this engine on our PT boat (Righteous?) and Badger tank.

*Experiment with the round for our existing 40mm cannons, possibly sabbot, possibly more charge.

*design a new 40mm anti tank cannon based on our existing one, utilizing the magazine feed and a higher velocity projectile.

*Design a lighter aircooled version of the Patriotism machine gun.

*Design a 14mm sniper rifle.

You recieve a letter of commendation for your efforts to further the war effort. The Generals have noted that the Patriotism machine gun did not suffer a single failure during the last years conflict. And as a result they have decided to build a factory dedicated to their production. Your current production run should be the last one that you need to be involved with, by this time next year a hundred machine guns per month will be rolling off the assembly line.

You have also been assigned an additional 10 novice engineers.

Over the course of the year your workers produce 459 Patriotism Machine Guns.

A thorough investigation of the imported biplane reveals little innovation. Its primarilly light wood and fabric, its aft facing propeller is an indication it was designed before interuptor gears were invented. Both pilot and gunner are largely unprotected in an open cockpit. It lacks speed and maneuverability. Its best use is as a scout, but it can harass ground troops with explosive shells or machine gun fire. The good news is that the novice engineer who volenteered for this task seemed to take quite an interest in it, and should be a great asset for future aviation efforts.

you assign your experiencec engineer and 7 novice engineers to the task of developping a high powered gas aviation engine.

The final design is a 300kg inlight 6 cylender 4 stroke engine with a max output of 170 kW (230hp).

In the prototype badger, this increases increases speed by aproximately 4km/h (to 52km/h).

In the prototype PT boat, This allows the weight allocated to engines (including fuel) to be cut by half while improving output to 340kw (with 2 engines).

Length: 20m
Displacement: 23 metric tons
Propulsion: 340kw
Speed: 44km/h (up to 48km/h without mines and torpedo's)
Crew: 10
Armament:
1 40x300mm auto-cannon
4 Patriotism 8mm machine guns.
2 torpedo tubes
2 mines
Special: can carry up to 10 tons of cargo or 20 fully armed soldiers and their supplies (max speed 40km/h when fully loaded).

Tonnage Allocations:
5 tons gas
5 tons boat parts (not intended for long term deployment)
2 tons 40mm cannon (less ammo than a traditional 5 ton allocation)
2 tons torpedo system (not reload-able)
4 tons torpedo's
4 tons mines (manually deployed)
1 ton machine guns and ammo

This engine is not going to be compatible with the current imported aircraft.

5 novice engineers are assigned to experiment with improving the anti-armor qualities of the existing 40mm cannon shells. The result of this is a shell with a cast steel tip and 10% more powder packed into the same shell design. The lighter bullet combined with more powder increase the speed and kinetic energy of the shell somewhat, and on impact the solid steel round penetrates aproximately 25% more effectively. The forces are within the range of tollerance for an undamaged cannon. Experiments with sabots did not fair well as the projectile would often begin tumbling when the sabot didn't seperate from its carrier quickly enough.

4 engineers and 4 notice engineers on the 14mm sniper rifle project. The resulting weapon is a single shot rotating bolt weapon firing a devestatingly high speed projectile that should be able to penetrate light armor at several hundred meters. Though it will likely require an expert marxman to hit anything particularly useful through an armor plate with a single shot.

Action: bolt
Sights: ring or telescopic
Weight: 12kg
Barrel Length: 1.3m

14mm round
Bullet:14x20mm
Cartridge: 20x100mm

4 engineers and 5 novice engineers on the air cooled patriot project. The resulting weapon has a heavier replaceable barrel and no cooling shroud. This cuts the overall weight of the gun to 15kg.

4 engineers and 5 novice engineers on the anti tank cannon project. At the end of the year, they were not able to produce a workable prototype.

**************************************
On the military front more Patriotism machine guns and Badgers continue to flow towards the frontlines.

Once the winter weather clears, the skys fill again with enemy aircraft, fast and agile biplanes armed with a pair of rapid fire 6mm guns and up to 50kg of bombs. Fortunately, shipments of your timed fuse shells have reached the front, and between them and a growing collection on Patriotism machine guns they can fend off attacks in our captured territories.

Advancing further is difficult because our badgers and infantry are vulnerable to attack from the air outside the concentrated envelope of firepower around the two captured towns.

The military is asking for air support and quickly. They are providing you with 10 additional engineers and another machine shop in the hope that you can begin delivering aircraft within 6 months.

**************************************

At your disposal
2 experienced engineers
25 engineers
22 novice engineers

As an aside, your factories are not the only factories in the country. There is for instance a factory dedicated to the original Mosin Nagant, Now there are 2 dedicated to the badger and 1 dedicated to the Patriotism MK1.

OK, looks like we need aviation focused turn

1) Continue to work on the air-cooled version of patriotism to reduce it's weight even more, even if it will require more expensive materials and more work hours. High priority
We are making a dedicated fighter machine-gun here, not something cheap and reliable to be mass produced like Patriotism MK1

2) Design a nimble light biplane with the sole purpose of fighting enemy fighters, armament two 8mm machineguns . Very high priority. Experiment with materials a lot
We need air superiority, and we are unexperienced in that, so need to take that by sheer manpower. No heavy aircrafts yet, we have no suitable runways, nor experienced pilots, nor suitable materials

3) Production: Start making weapons for our elite forces: Pistols,  SVA-10s,  14mm sniper rifles, shotguns, Righteous PT boats, Patriotisms MK2s: Suggest generals to concentrate all that in the hands of the best soldiers. Priority: average
Maybe they'll get the idea to use that for amphibious infiltrations

4) Design a destroyer sized ship armed with AA weapons only , (twin 40mm guns, quad patriotisms)  we may need to conduct naval operations and our little fleet needs better protection: Priority: Low

I think we need to think about fitting a badger Chassis with quad MG's, preferably high calibre.

5) Design and build modifications for the Badger medium tank to turn it into a mobile AA platform. Priority i'd say is high.

Its all well and good having fighters, but they cant be everywhere. With a mobile AA platform, we can at least have SOME cover for our troops when we dont have aircraft available.

Appears to be a good idea UR +1

I'd add that we should look into buying an example of an interrupter gear assembly so we can mount mgs within the propeller arc of a plane. Also, I'd add one or two single 160mm turrets to the design of that frigate so that it isn't completely vulnerable to other ships if it runs into a task force(remember the shipyard is only up to frigate sized ships!). The 160mm should still be useful at AA with VT fuse shells!

Also, kahn, that sounds like a good idea +1

At a lower priority, I say finishing the AT cannon

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

160mm turret is a cruiser weapon,  oversized for any frigate and quite large for a destroyer. Plus escort ships are meant to act like escorts... So no... and aren't we allowed to build ships up to 1600 tons?

Believe me when i say 1600 tons is not enough for a decently armed frigate.

The smallest frigates, at least the ones built by the British at this time in the real world, were usually between 1200-1500 tons without the crew, ammo and other supplies.

Unless you want to build them and have them supplied/armed somewhere else.

Early frigates were between 500-1000 tons, but they were badly armed and not completely effective.

Personally, we can only build to a displacement of 800 tons, and the cruiser is 4000. But the nation may have other docks. We should query the nation's ship construction capacity... If we are desperate then I would suggest designing the fastest ship we can build around a 160mm gun. It would probably roll if it tried to fire sideways, but would probably be quite adequate for harassing merchant ships and bombarding land targets. As for meeting a battleship in a fair fight, well, we are going to be relying on numbers over size regardless, may as well try something that is a small, fast target, even if it does need to point at you to shoot you... But it doesn't seem that we will need such a vessel this turn...

1.01) Dub the air-cooled patriotism "Solidarity 8a" and attempt to lighten its ammunition while valuing projectile velocity.

2.01) Design a nimble light biplane with the sole purpose of fighting enemy fighters, armament two 8mm machineguns . Very high priority. Just get something that will fly and do it quickly.

second 3- produce unbuilt infantry designs.

second 5- AA Badgers, call them "Owls"

Proposal 6: Build an 8 cylinder variant of the engine and then try to lower its weight.

The ones you quoted weren't under full load. the O and P class destroyers were 2200+ tons under full load, for example.

The other weights are similar. they are weights of the ships when they dont have their full compliment of crew, supplies, ammo etc. I know that wouldn't matter much for the first few you listed, but the heavier ones are out of our current capabilities, unless there is something we dont know.

Spoiler: more ooc (click to show/hide)

I have an idea, but not a bolded proposal yet. What about designing and producing balloons that will move nice flamable materials behind the lines of our enemy? Of cause if we have favorable winds. I mean something like that amusing thing - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Outward or that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_balloon

I can't see them being very accurate, a mortar would probably be more effective. I would be interested in developing balloons that can reach greater altitudes than aircraft though.

Well, no, but a balloon like that would be a terribly uncivilised weapon. Where is the honour in starting forest fires or burning down people's homes? A war should be fought by soldiers, on the battle-field.

Proposal 7: Give RAM 3 engineers and a shack.
