Clearly, there is only one logical thing to wear.

We are wearing OVERALLS and a FRAYING, STAINED WOOL SHIRT, whilst our feet are clad in OLD LEATHER BOOTS, from which protrude our ATHLETE'S FOOT-AFFLICTED TOES.

On our head is a decaying STRAW HAT and we are holding our FISHING ROD. This is because we are a REDNECK FROM THE BAYOU and furthermore NOT ACTUALLY A MAGE AT ALL. However, since we HAVE BEEN TOLD WE ARE A MAGE, we THINK WE ARE A MAGE.

Action: Attempt to cast a spell with fishing rod, actually just casting out lure. If our fishing hook draws blood on someone, then HOORAY, we must be a blood mage.

You know what I don't think I want to know what the mage looks like anymore. Now of course our buddies wouldn't just send us in without some form of artifact, so... what is it?

Option A:  The Assassin's blade:  This is a forearm protector with a blade on the top of the hand allowing us to punch with a blade over our hand.

Option B:  The white mage's staff:  ... We stole this from Gandalf.

Option C:  The Boomstick:  The only enchanted shotgun in the world.
