No unlocks or upgrades. It's a $10 game made by (I'm pretty sure) a major publisher, it's not like they're going to invest that much time or work into it.

It's pretty fun especially when you can observe your battles in real-time afterwards.

it's a 10$ game published by a medium-sized publisher (Paradox isn't exactly EA, but they are far from indie, like some people think), made by the Magica people (Pieces Interactive), so neither is the developer a big name.

Anyways, does anyone want to play with me (or against)?

Girlinhat on Leviathan 1.

One thing sucks - your shipyard doesn't carry over to other servers, so custom fleets aren't shared.  And if one server is full, none of your friends or ships are available on another server.

It sucks, but so far it's been easy enough to just copy over all of my data from one server to another. Usually, you'll either be able to get on Leviathan 1 or 2, so it's simple enough to have just one copy on both.

I know saving in the cloud is the new black, but this is quite annoying. It also seems to save offline games in the same cloud, so no saving if you're not always online (and even then it sometimes glitches out). At least you can play offline without internet, unlike some title which will not be mentioned.

Kinda sad there's not much bay12 activities here. Like tournaments or some such.

Had an awesome game on Leviathan 1. If you have the game and want to view it, the ID is 30426.

I ended up jumping ship on this one, but was rather annoyed that there's already a ton of gameplay DLC out, which costs more than the game itself. Bah. I guess I'll play with vanilla ships forever then *sniffles*

I've been going through the campaign. The game's pretty cool :)

The campaign ends, well "suddenly" isn't the word, but it ends sort of where you would expect the end of the first act to be. And the ships are all wrong (what is this new fashion of making single player purposefully different from multilayer?!) This is especially jarring since the campaign can be played co-op (with campaign ships).

Large ships... and large guns, actually suck. My main fleets consist of 1, or 2 medium sized boats with rockets on them, and a rail gun, or something with high damage. The rest of my fleet is just scouts with 4 of the smallest gun on the front. So far 100% win rate. THe problem is that if you get enough ships firing on one ship, it gets overwhelmed, and most people dont manually target so it splits up all the guns. And the Kaisers do ALOT of damage, especially if you have 4-16 firing at a time. If they get the drop on me, I take loads of damage, but since most people dont bother with side and back defenses, If I can get behind them I can deal free damage.

You actually get more damage if you try to hit the ships superstructure or get the shells to land on the deck rather than hit the hull like the auto-aim does.

Also, 3 Atlas with 12 kaisers each will kill everything. EVERYTHING. CURSE THEM. I need a plan for those kind of people.

The hull is where the armor is. You generally want to try not to hit it.

Large ships and large guns don't necessarily suck, but the large ships are better at acting as mass gun carriages, and the large guns are better at heavy support. If you want your ships to be better in a close-quarters brawl, you go with small ships. If you want to really fuck someone up from far away, go with the big ships and the big guns. The Pegasus, rocket launcher and railgun are all terrifyingly effective weapons if you can use them right.
