I haven't done much in terms of progress. Just getting a well type thing set up, along with getting a dining hall mined out, a stockpile floor mined out, along with setting up another squad. Anything else will be added with an EDIT to this as I don't plan on triple, quad etc posting on after this

EDIT: *le internet sigh* Life has taken over, make some in-fluff reason up for Ice Blade's short first rule and I'll upload the save for Mura. Just move me to the last slot.
Okay. I can think of quite a few reasons.

Then go ahead and do one of those. If it requires a collab, just let me know.

Hm. Unexpected, but I prefer the early-game anyhow. Ready whenever you upload the save.

Well, Ice Blade went and had a nervous breakdown not two weeks into her term. Something about how I killed all of her slaver friends with a rusty chainsaw. Wuss.

That left me, the militia commander, as the highest-ranking competent officer in Bastionrises, so for now I'm in charge of both military and civilian affairs. And it's only now that I'm beginning to realize how much of a disaster this place is. Take this thing right here, ordered by the last Overmare (i.e. Ice Blade the Nutty).
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Yes, that's a giant ugly phallus. Maybe it was supposed to serve some purpose beyond the psychological, but now that the Overmare is on "vacation" we may never know. In other news, you know how the walls of the workshops are made from dirt? Well, it turns out that's all they're made of- just five inches of soil separate the top of the mountain and the ceiling of the trade depot. Does nopony else see a problem with this? When I'm done with this Stable, everything will be made of stone. Luna, I'm considering making the leather out of stone. We've got enough of it.

Lastly, I'm gonna kill me some bloatsprites. Previous management was skittish about risking military engagements, but really? I'm a High Master Axepony, and they're overgrown hairballs. It's like I'm the only sane pony in this entire stable.

Now, if you'll excuse me, diary, I need to sharpen my chainsaw.

Hehe, my grand dining hall was mistaken for a phallus.

I might do Ice Blade the nutty journals if I get the time

8th Sandstone, 202

The more I look at the blueprints for this place, the worse my head swims. Or maybe that's just the all booze I have to drink to deal with the stupidity. I've ordered the miners to officially begin work on the project codenamed BUCK-IT: Brave Undertaking of Construction and Kludges for Instant Terror. The project entails deconstructing all messily-built workshops in the dirt layers, relocating them deeper underground, and reorganizing the former workshop areas as a highly defensible "deathtrap" zone. It'll make the entrance hall a little uglier, but that thing wasn't going to win any architectural awards either way.

In other news, guess how much booze we have, diary? That's right: none. Or at least, we'll have none once I finish this mug. What caused this regrettable state of affairs, you ask? Simple: Ice Blade forgot to tell Blanketlove, Adequate Brewer (Rusty), to make booze. So she didn't make any. I'm having trouble deciding which one of them is more of a bucking idiot. Meanwhile, some of the children have taken to drinking out of ponds and streams. I've suggested that their parents tell them the old stories about the Rad-Carp to get them to stay away.

To top off the steaming pie of stupid, a woodcarver by the name of Good Balancehill is standing in the Jeweler's Workshop and screaming about needing rocks. He's standing not 200 feet from a pile of dolomite. I've asked other ponies to bring some of it to him in the hopes that he'll shut up.

It's like I need to be sober to run the Stable, but I need to be drunk to cope. I'm starting to see why Ice Blade cracked.

Good Balancehill finally lost it. I'm not really surprised- for the last few weeks, he maintained that dolomite was "not a proper rock", barricaded himself in the Jeweler's shop, and totally neglected his family. Now he's roaming the halls, naked and emaciated, trying to convince the scrap crates that the Bloodwings are our "saviors".

In other news, project BUCK-IT is coming along well. The new dining room is halfway dug out- it will be a true wonder once smoothed. I plan to relocate our workshops and stockpiles there, as well- it's large enough to hold everything our Stable has ever produced, and it will be inspiring to watch the might of pony industry as we dine.

1st Moonstone
Our supply caravan from the home Stable arrived, looking for trade. I took everything they had at chainsaw-point. Sure, they were mad, but what are they gonna do? Start a civil war? We were low on supplies, and sometimes sacrifices have to be made. And by "sacrifices", I mean "heists".

Anyway, they had some good stuff. Vintage turrets, couple of Protectaponies, and a Spritebot or two. Oh, and they solved our booze problem. Score!

Given all the loot we've been accruing, I'm surprised we haven't seen more than the occasional thief. But since our defenses aren't too great, that's just as well- so long as the outer walls are under renovation, an organized force could just stroll in with nothing but our militia in the way.

I'll be getting a story uploaded tomorrow sometime; my only chance to play recently was a little bit just now.

Quote from: Clarity Stylebean's Diary
1st Slate, Mid-Spring 203
Some raider scouts came with iron knives and frothy mouths- maybe berserk, maybe just rabid. They got two of ours, Squid Valleyflare and Lion Watchfulstyle. I killed all of the raiders personally in close combat, though the last one I had to chase down and decapitate, which tarnished the victory a bit. Somepony suggested burying them, but I prefer letting their bodies rot outside the gates. Sacrilege? Probably. It is still more tasteful than burying them with their victims.

Speaking of which, I have finished the construction of a graveyard connected to the main bedrooms. Every stable citizen who dies here will receive proper burial and acknowledgement. So far, only three of the stone coffins are occupied, and I'd like to keep it that way. A full mortuary signifies a sloppy Overmare. I've had to expand the living quarters, too- another residency floor has been carved, and is being smoothed and furnished as I write this.

We discovered some nifty technology in the crates we've been scavenging- it seems impossible to open them faster than they pile up. So far our most valuable finds have been two genuine mass-production anti-machine rifles, a couple of antique Med-X autoinjectors, and some pre-filled healing potion autoinjectors. So far the autoinjectors have only been given to the most active squads, and we don't have enough large-caliber ammo to train any marksponies on the AMRs, but I look forward to the day when even the Steel Rangers fear us.

I haven't seen if the autoinjectors work yet, come to think. I've never been injured in combat, so they've never had a chance to patch me up. I wonder...

(spatters of blood coat the text; diary resumes on next page)

Good news! They work! Bad news: I see spots. Going to get more booze.

21st Slate, Mid-Spring 203

Okay, this is huge. The miners just breached a cavern layer, and it looks like a city?! And Zioko said that he saw something glowing, but it ran off into the distance! And there's a massive pit in the middle of the cavern, and it leads into a deeper cavern with blood-red moss!

Sorry, I'm kinda freaking out. We at Bastionrises discovered something! And the loot here looks so much better than that shit topside. But I'm taking Zioko seriously- Wilde Card is on pure mechanic duty setting up traps around the cavern entrance, just in case something comes through.

Luna, this takes me back. Reminds me of my days on an expedition crew. I'm a fighter, not a ruler- I'd be happy to see even Ice Blade resume control. Speaking of, where is Ice Blade? I never thought much of it, but she hasn't made herself seen since she had that mental breakdown.

Eh. Not my problem. She'll turn up.
