Not a bad result for two alien squads + hostile Superdynamics mercs! Nicely done!

That said... are you going to have problems with killing UFOs? You'll have to win the air battle someday. Maybe cult raiding until you can afford 2 Air Warriors might be viable? Or 1 Warrior to tank while a hoverbike swarm deals damage? I might be mistaken, but I think you'll need to down some UFOs to get the tech to build your own (which are awesome and necessary to win). It's not going to get any easier to get kills once the late-game UFOs show up.   :'(

Yes blank you might need to use a hover bike swarm to down a ufo for research being a coward and avoiding Air combat with the Glorious Red Wave is not helping you.

Sadly, the aliens will eventually (if they haven't already) deploy Bombers with the Multi-Bomb Launcher, which targets and basically destroys every Hoverbike in range with a single shot. According to the wiki, they show up later in the game, and usually only when attacking enemy buildings directly, but it's still a bit of a risk.

Speaking of which... yeah. If the aliens decide to deploy an attack force to wipe out XCOM RES, I don't think there's a big chance of the base surviving. Good thing I'm not giving them tactical advice!  :)

And sometimes you need to send hoverbikes against bombers anyway. I had a game where the aliens decided to bomb both my bases simultaneously. My 'real' airforce defended one base and got horribly beaten up, while a hastily purchased force of hoverbikes and hovercars made a glorious doomed charge against the other bombers over on the completely opposite corner of the city. But they ate enough missiles that the base survived.

I survived! All those times I've been shot taught me how not to be shot as much!

Of note, the bomber didn't deposit aliens into the building. It did worse. It deposited SPOILERs.

Good news I have a possible way of dealing with this! It just so happens a fine mix of hoverbikes, hovercars and Hawkair warrior will do it! However we'll need to raid the CoS to help keep funds up during the rest of the week. Though i might have a fix for my current predicament so it's all or nothing!

Ohhhhhhh snap I'd completely forgot about them when I was recording. Yeah this sucks, however I just need to get superdynamics out of being hostile just once and then bulk buy some fuel and I'll be golden I reckon, then the aliens can have their way with them, since you know they did shoot me!

I think that those were both proper alien drops, the conversion beam is sort of blue and sparkly... Also, is it possible that a third alien vehicle dropped a mess of aliens into one of those sewage treatment places? If I was sending a hawk air warrior out I would probably give it two lineage plasma cannons, Fill it with large targeting computers, givwe it the best engine that money can buy, and maybe throw in a plasma multisystem, and then I would only send it against the stragglers that didn't have escorts and send it into the nearest building if it took about a quatrer damage...

Ground vehicle fuel is the same as air vehicle fuel. If superdynamics won't sell, get it from the other vehicle manufacturer. General Metro, I think. If that doesn't work, buy vehicles, strip them, resell them. That seems to get fuel. If you still can't get any fuel, you'll need to somehow accelerate research into xcom craft. But for that you need to shoot down aliens. Oh... you're so screwed :)

Oh wait! You can raid superdynamics for elerium like you can raid Sirius for psyclone. One capsule of Elerium on the battle map is worth 50 on the city map.

What's the infiltration profile of the various organizations? Are SD hostile because they got infiltrated or because you blew up their stuff?

Also, that was nowhere near two shiploads of aliens in the factory. At least half of them must have already scattered to adjacent buildings.

There are four things Aliens can do to buildings:
- Regular "tube" deposit, puts a lot of aliens in
- Dust-like drop above the buildings. Deposits the spoiler creatures, as well as quite a few aliens
- Conversion beam (Never actually seen that one, but read about it)
- Explosives, from a distance :P

Right back to regular uploads! Sorry last week was pretty mental for me, still XCOM is on the up!

Blank Plays: XCOM Apocalypse episode 32

Still that's now two missions in a row in which no one has died, I know these Devastator Cannons would be our saving grace! Plus taking an extra few people into combat with us also helps. So now ground combat has been clawed back I simply need to shoot down a few more UFO's and we should have all that we need for research purposes!

Those are the only four things I know the aliens can do on the geoscape map thing. Well other than the crazy big destructo-alien they send!

As for the ship combat, I seem to able to pull off a fight with a hawk air warrior, some hover cars and a few hoverbikes. It's not perfect, but it can down some alien craft which is what we need right now. The second we captured them then we don't need to worry, maybe keep a few hoverbikes to distract them if they invade. For the time being anyway.

I covered a lot of these in the latest episode, still I'm just gonna bite the bullet and pay SD and get them back on side, for the short term anyway.

I  seem to reall that fuel was only used in significant quantities if you kept vehicles flying while at maximum time progression. Just jaunting to and from missions shouldn't drain your supplies much.

Yeah, fuel gets consumed mostly when hovering. If Superdynamics are going to demand lots of money in reparations and/or bribes, might be better to just ignore them. We'll never need a ground vehicle (hopefully!), and in a few more weeks we should be making our own fuel-less air vehicles anyways.  :)

Also, it gives us an excuse to liberate their employees from their fleshy existence.

I'm beginning to contemplate blowing up those warehouses, so many damn aliens!

Blank Plays Xcom Apocalypse Episode 33

So my plans have been firmly laid out now, survive till midnight, raid the CoS for money and shields then buy some aircraft. Though in this episode we just clear out what I believe is going to be the last bit of combat for the day. Or at least I hope it's the last bit of combat for the day! Oh and we welcome another into the team, just at the right time as well it seems.

Also, it gives us an excuse to liberate their employees from their fleshy existence.

Oh yeah 'liberate' them from there existence, I mean we aren't murders, noooo not at all. We are freedom fighters! Unshackling humans from the tyranny of aliens where every it has spread, by any means possible. That almost sound awesome!

Well true we'll hopefully be making fuel-less vehicles soon, I mean if things go well. So I'm tempted to ignore any fuel concerns for the time being. Plus it makes fighting Super Dynamics way more fun if we get to shoot people in the face too!

Oh, wow... my accuracy is was kinda bad. Ah well, you don't have to shoot accurately to catch lasers!  ;)
