So we clean up some good old alien invasions and I put down some short term plans! That and I doubt the validity of the hover bike swarm!

Blank Plays XCOM Apocalypse Episode 23

I should also learn to keep my mouth shut when it comes to the lives of my crew. It seems to Jinx whoever is on the team that day. However this isn't to bad as it will save me some money in staff costs. Got to look for the silver lining folks!

You can earn back some money by selling the cannons and ammo you stripped from those hoverbikes. Some more money by selling elerium because that's ammo for plasma weapons which you don't have. And you can probably sell 500 or so fusion fuel, since you have 700 and you use up something like 10 a day.

I learned something today. Aliens are quite capable of picking up and using human tech. I discovered this when a trooper got knocked unconscious and the rescue squad saw a skeletoid land on top of his body. About a second later they then saw the entire contents of his minilauncher flying towards them.

I used your advice and sold off some stuff, it's actually helped out quite a lot! Though that second bit of information worries me I don't want aliens picking up Tech of the floor and using it. Not when you can some pretty nasty equipment laying around towards endgame!

So uh...am I still alive? I can't really watch videos that often on this internet connection. Bandwidth limits. I was around ep. ten I think.

I can't remember the exact episode, but no you're dead as a doornail I'm afraid!

How to use, and how to manufacture them on the atomic level(including the mini-dimension gate inside that powers it) are two very different things.
The thing is that the game doesn't let you use them, or even sell them, until you know how to build them. Well, you can't equip them at base at least, I am not sure if I have tried equipping them in the field by looting corpses, but I am extremely doubtful that such an effort would be successful.

P.S.
I have this weird feeling that you can see what equipment a vehicle has on board, maybe by checking the agent screen while the vehicle is returning from a mission? Probably just something that I am misremembering...

Those are actually both pretty interesting ideas I might have to test picking up alien tech on the battlemap, if you can use it that'd be amazing! As for whats on the transporter that's not as big an issue, still handy for figuering out what to sell I suppose!

I fear I may have signed my death sentence with my insistence for a lower-case 'H' heh. At least I got in before you realised the personnel costs were ridiculous high. The reason for the lower-case-ness, though, is I just think it adds a bit of personality to my wee android! You know, refusing to adhere to the organic convention of capitalising proper nouns and such. I think he/she/it might be racist. Or mental. Or both...

I rather enjoyed that video, too. Never really thought of having one squad each covering the stairs and the lift on slum maps. Then again, that's probably why I don't last too long before ragequitting! The end was epic. Awesome laser battle, then a random popper performs a futile kamikaze to end the mission. Awesome!

I suspect that you may want a *lot* more hoverbikes, probably with the default gun. Bear in mind that you may have captured some more disruptor guns to sell, and if you manage to research devastators soon then those can be sold too. And I am pretty sure that someone, Ednar maybe, still has a laser pod or whatever the sniper ammunition is called.

P.S.
Consider turning off the automatic pauses for items arriving at base. I find that the messages are usually noticeable enough. And it isn't a bad idea to check the automatic pause list from time to time anyway, in case you accidentally turn something off...

Just wanted to drop a line saying how much I've enjoyed this LP! I'd request a character, but you seem to have a surplus of them already. Unless they keep dying, of course, and you suddenly need replacements.  :)

If you haven't been, consider some more raiding. Yeah, they're well-armed, but you have personnel to spare (and getting a few killed off makes room for me!  :D). If the Cult stops dropping valuable stuff, consider raiding a criminal syndicate - I'm not sure if bad relations with Psyke stop you selling Psiclone to them, but Orison and Diablo both carry useful loot. Diablo only sells Incendiary Grenades (the incendiary ammo isn't from them), and they're usually pretty poor, so a few raids could bankrupt them and prevent retaliation if you're lucky!

Apocalypse needs more LPs; I've been looking for a good one to go to completion for a while now. Can't wait for the next update! :D

I'd like to throw my name in the ring for a soldier as well, if future battles get catastrophic enough that it becomes necessary ;)

On the matter of extra hoverbikes, I have no idea how many would be required, but just feel that too many would probably be better than just enough. In my personal experience, I found that hoverbikes didn't seem like such a good idea after they started dying in one hit. I have heard good things about hoverbike swarms, but have always preferred the approach of one big ship over many smaller ones. On that point you could probably afford a hawk air warrior with a full arsenal of lineage plasma cannons and some nice aiming modules if you sold all your other craft, valkyrie included, not that I am advocating this, as I said, I have heard good things about hoverbike swarms, but I wouldn't feel right if I didn't mention the possibility.

So hoverbikes!

Blank Plays XCOM Apocalypse Episode 24

So apparently Hoverbikes work, albeit it not as efficiently as I'd hoped, but still I managed to shoot something down!

Yay! I escaped from certain death once more!
Too bad I'll be exempt from the next mission.....

you'll see combat again eventually, we all will, the aliens will see to that . . .

Huh...download my guys brain into a cyborg or something then.

Yeah about that, we might have just left it on the battlefield, you know heat of the moment kind of thing.

Yeah I'm not quite sure what actually constitutes a swarm, though it seems I had just enough to see me through.

Don't worry you've been added to my 'to recruit' list, and thanks for saying you've enjoyed the series so far, always nice to hear!

As for the raids after this week I reckon things will be back on track somewhat, so I will start doing the odd raid again. I think that combined with the normal XCOM funding will leave me in a good place financially. Still raiding is good, and fun so I'll do a few more just for the heck of it!

I'd like to throw my name in the ring for a soldier as well, if future battles get catastrophic enough that it becomes necessary ;)

I can hopefully manage to complete it, I'm not promising anything here, but I reckon I still have a good shot. Also I'm trying to get back to pretty regular updates now, at least one every few days. So you won't have to wait long.

As for a soldier, don't worry I'm sure a space will open up soon!

. . .On that point you could probably afford a hawk air warrior with a full arsenal of lineage plasma cannons and some nice aiming modules if you sold all your other craft, valkyrie included, not that I am advocating this, as I said, I have heard good things about hoverbike swarms, but I wouldn't feel right if I didn't mention the possibility.

I might actually follow the suggestion of buying a Hawk Air warrior, I'm not to sure yet, but we will see how money falls after we purchase equipment at the start of the week.

I wonder if you can trigger civilian responses against aliens by attacking the civilian buildings as the aliens fly over. I can't imagine that it could possibly be worth the universal war against you, and it is possible that aliens are not hostile to civilians...

I knew that laser pod would cause trouble! Of course, they are capable of exploding, if they are on the ground and take damage, they shoot a burst of random lasers, not very effective, but it is not quite completely useless...

I suspect that hoverbikes have much more firepower than the equivalent larger vehicles, on account of being cheaper per weapon space, but you can afford to mount aiming modules on larger ships... You sort of got unlucky there with the transports staying near the edge of the city...

Hmm... small aiming modules might be useful, since there's an otherwise-useless 1x1 square on the Hoverbike. Not sure if the extra cost per Hoverbike is worth the improvement, though. Do aiming modules even help missile launchers?

They definitely do; they seem to help turn speed/tracking.
According to wiki, they may NOT be useful with projectile weapons. Huh.

I noticed that I was almost healed, and then thought, with twangs of dread, "I can go on missions now"... Sure enough, I am marched onto the ship, here is hoping that things go well...

The 4 units thing is probably that only 4 units were selected when you pressed the 'investigate building' button when your troops were still at your own base. So when you got there you still had orders for two people to just sit in the ship playing cards... I had better check...
Yes, 4 units on the message, if you are insane then so anm I, and to be honest, I probably would have missed that entirely, and gotten into the mission understaffed...
Hrmm, yes, I believe that Hexedy and Halceon were going to sit on the ship playing cards while the rest of us were going to go to be showing off our new line of Popper shoes, Brainsucker hats, and multiworm overcoats...

Heh, next time you should try shooting up through the floor. Probably not an especially effective tactic, but you haven't been blowing up enough buildings to keep me sane...

[8:45]Ooooh, my squad is getting some excitement!

[12:26]Did I just see the Dude walking to the mission?

[12:16]Yes, yes I did...

[13:12]Woo, go team Sentient Engine!

[14:50]"tactical genius"
[14:54]"Woh! Everyone stop!"
... not that the horrorterrors of doom showing up actually had anything to do with the tactics, but it is still funny.

If killing us was a crime then we wouldn't need self...

[16:02]Oh, hey, that new door is convenient!

Crouch and crawl don't really work well together, they seem to like to crouch to shoot and then crawl to move, which takes away all the good of crawling but keeps all the bad...

Well, I got to lead a squad, and the only significant injuries happened to the fleshies...
