And so the madness begins!

Blank Plays X-COM Apocalypse: Episode 2

Alright I admit that was a pretty crazy raid on the Cult of Sirius, especially since it now turns out that was a rocket people took to the face, which is even more impressive that no one was killed! I will be taking vengeance on the Cult of Sirius for that at some point!

Still like I said in the Episode here is a current list of all my current soldiers, all of them alive and healthy (well near enough):

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Yay! I'm a squad leader! On my first mission too, and I was one of the first to leave the building :P
(Btw it is pronounced :Ha-Vee-Air; due to hispanicness, it makes an H sound instead of a J sound)

To be honest I think you just got crazy lucky, since I'm not quiet sure how it calculates EXP in this game, it could be you managed to hit the most enemies before retreating. Still kudos on the promotion, no matter how lucky you where!

Hurling grenades at corpse piles works well, but explosions will break stuff on the floor. Also, so long as you win the mission, you get all the stuff on the floor anyway, you don't need to pick it up. Raiding sirius is pretty good money, too, as they frequently leave expensive drugs lying around for you to claim as loots after the mission.

I'd suggest stationing craft in buildings nearby each of the dimension gates, as this allows you to respond much faster than if they're all stuck at HQ. So long as you're not hostile to them, corporations will allow you to park craft at their buildings indefinitely. Also, watching the UFOs, rather than your own craft, allows you to see where the aliens have infiltrated this time, so you can then react as soon as the fighting's stopped, rather than waiting to get an Alien Spotted! notification. A couple (and later on, more than a couple) of hoverbikes near each gate will be able to shoot down most incursions, especially if you support the worst hit gate with your reserve hovercars.

I will at some point buy some extra vehicle, but I don't think we need to bother especially at least until about week 3/4, since due to our position in the middle of the map (and it being small due to the difficulty) we should be pretty fine. Plus I think it works in your favor to give every squad member Toxiguns late game as a secondary weapon and something bigger to deal with personal shields.

Well either way, I can only see things getting crazier from here on out!

But Toxiguns completely ignore Personal Shields.
I think it made me a squad leader because I lvled up after We had enough prerequisite squadies

I would like to claim a person. :3

Also I have never played/heard of this game, but I like watching X-COM LPs, so it should be fun.

Having played this game excessively once, I can say that the game is very difficult. Toxiguns make the game bearable and then beatable, but the faction management/area destruction can be quite challenging once things get rolling. I would say that TFTD is the hardest, but Apocalypse is close due to its complexity.

Besides, Toxin C requires you to already be ahead to nab all the research components. It's harder if you haven't been lucky...

omg you pronounced my name wrong, how dare you, worst LP ever, etc.
Seriously though, good job.  I'm quite enjoying this, despite having very little idea of what's going on.

Another episode coming your way!

Blank Plays: X-COM Apocalypse Episode 3

Ok, so we actually fight some aliens again annnnnnnnnd well something terrible happens. Well not actually that terrible, still I can't tell you about it lest I spoil the episode. That and we have effectively survived our first week of X-Com'ing, which as an activity is inherently hard, plus we haven't made anyone angry at us yet!

So once again here are the soldiers we currently have:

Yeah the promotion does seem incredibly random, since I think becoming a squaddie is the only rank that needs experience. As for Toxiguns, if they ignore personal shields I don't see any disadvantage to running around with them.

I would like to claim a person. :3

Also I have never played/heard of this game, but I like watching X-COM LPs, so it should be fun.

Welcome to the team Rookie! Still I hope you have fun watching!

Yeah TFTD can be a bitch sometimes! Still I don't think I'll be able to grab all the research, it's already been made harder by the fact we've destroyed the first wave of ships to come through, so Toxin B might be the best we get, unfortunately.

Well you might be able to pick up a thing or two as we go, plus learn that every choice I make is a bad one, so just do the opposite! Still I will continue to mispronounce your name, for now and forever! =P

All caught up. YOU SENT ME INTO COMBAT WITHOUT ARMOR! And I survived! Damn you :P

Also, I'm a freakin' hybrid. That's amazing. You sure you don't want to give me a mind bender so I can sow chaos and panic amongst the enemies?

Lookin' good, can't wait for more!

Well in my planning, I do have a semblance of a plan believe it or not. Hijinks aside you and AlleeCat are going to make up my Psi team and are going to be part of the support group. Since it is handy to have some PSI troops late game, especially for raiding CoS and stealing all their precious loot >_>

To be honest I think getting peoples gender right is going to be entirely hit and miss, though you do get the advantage of being a swanky alien!

Just remember that when fighting multi/Hyper-Worms, to switch to full auto; so you may easily kill them off quicker(even with a tiny penalty to accuracy(AND it is a machine gun))
Also, machine guns carry a little more ammo than you think. Your troops just don't reload often.

Episode 4 has arrived after much technical difficulty!

Blank Plays: X-COM Apocalypse Episode 4

This is the episode where I turn it all around! I actually preform competently at combat and even get my hands on some stuff to research, hopefully it's all uphill from here on in!

Now for our awesome soldier listing:

I employ this strategy more thoroughly in this episode, I don't know what it is I just can't manage a huge group of people. Yet when I send in 6 men I do the best I've ever done, I think its time to downsize and split my men into two teams.

If there are drop pods in this game, we need to take full advantage of the Steel Rehn maneuvah.
