Smite the bear with my sword.
"Remember! The mead! Any other significant objects, state it now!"
(2+2v1) The zweilander bites into the root bear's hide but (Fr:3) only half the blade follows through. (
Broken Rusty Zweilander S+1 T-1) The shard of ancient relic remains embedded in the bear's knotted side.
Continue standing by and otherwise defending against the bear.
(3v6) The unlit torch scrapes along the bear's side, leaving only superficial damage.
"Damn it!"
Run past the distracted Root Bear, take the unconscious man to safety.
(6) You run deftly past the bear as it engages the others and drag the unconscious man back towards Baldwyn. As you do this, you notice some of the roots in the walls retreating to their source.
(5v5+1) The bear delivers a powerful blow to Rynn's chest, tearing the white surcoat and leaving scratches on her breastplate. The metal holds, leaving the battered hedge knight unharmed.
(1v1) The conscious members Group A remain a respectful distance from the root bear.
Baldwyn promptly gobbles down some pieces of the meady roots.
Afterall, his martial arts skills depends on how drunk he is.
You manage to suck a shot-worth of sap from the root. Normally, alcohol takes time to enter your blood but you instantly begin to feel dizzy. The whole world is tipping and swaying now and yet you feel as if nothing could be more natural. (
Drunken Mastery is in effect, each turn you will roll for effects with (4) no bonus)
Check the tree for anything.
You enter the room and search for anything useful. Tables and chairs lie across the floor in various states of decomposition. Some appear to have been broken after falling from the room above, others crushed by the powerful roots that run through the room. Amongst the broken pottery you find some cutlery but it is merely pewter. You take a closer look at the tree seemingly growing from the stone itself. It is massive, with a trunk as wide as two men and branches that stretch to unseen lengths in the room above.
(4+1) As you check it's base you see movement on the far side of the room and step back quickly. Luckily, you stepped back in time to see the large root swat lazily at the spot where you used to be. The debris beneath your feet shifts as part of the trunk partially separates, opening four large, amber eyes and a gnarled mouth. More debris shifts as the other roots begin to move.
You have awoken the
Den Mother.
