((Why do you people manage to guess correctly...You're all telepathic. O_o))

Rynn moved to look at Alec, lifting up the fox-like visor by the cheekbone--revealing a woman's face, chiseled and lean in appearance and lightly tanned in complexion; her hair was a dark shade of brown.

"Glad to meet you Alec. It's not common for another to begin the introductions when they're alone with me. Shall we try a plan which works when one faces common enemies?"

She lowered the zweihander and called out to the members of group A, hoping to rally them and use them as any practical leader should. "Everyone, fall back to the light! That's an adult root bear--something they said we shouldn't be facing. Fall back to better ground!

"Anyone else, stay away from the wooded growths. Our goal is to collect, not kill. We need as much bear sap as we can get!"

((As a stupid person I have absurdly good luck, so y'know, lucky guess. :P))

"Glad to meet you Alec. It's not common for another to begin the introductions when they're alone with me. Shall we try a plan which works when one faces common enemies?"
Alec nods slightly at Rynn. "Heh, well, wouldn't do anyone much good if we just left 'em to die."

He stands by, prepared to hold off the bear if it comes too close.

Grab something sharp and long, throw it at root bars face.

Grab something sharp and long, throw it at root bars face.
(1) You pick up a piece of the legacy of cheap, long-dead masons and hurl it in the root bear's general direction. The stone flies wide and knocks out a member of Group A.

She lowered the zweihander and called out to the members of group A, hoping to rally them and use them as any practical leader should. "Everyone, fall back to the light! That's an adult root bear--something they said we shouldn't be facing. Fall back to better ground! Anyone else, stay away from the wooded growths. Our goal is to collect, not kill. We need as much bear sap as we can get!"
He stands by, prepared to hold off the bear if it comes too close.
(4+1) You manage to rally the two conscious members of Group A. They both rush to your position as the bear readies itself to attack.

(5v4+1) The bear rushes the group forcing them to split. Fortunately, it doesn't manage to hurt anyone.

Baldwyn attempts to locate the source of alcohol smell, with his nose.
(5) Your keen nose leads you to the North end of the room, oblivious to the commotion behind you. Following the sweet smell of fermented or distilled... sweet stuff, you eventually determine that the smell is coming from a gashed root on the wall. Curious, you lick the root. It's like the most concentrated mead you have ever tasted.

I'll go check through the doorway over there
(4) Seeing the choice between fighting an adult root bear and licking the walls, you opt to check the doorway to the North. The room's only light comes from a hole in the roof, showing the keep above. There is another hole in the roof of the keep, showing the rosy dawn sky above.

In the room itself, the silhouette of what appears to be an ancient oak tree appears to be growing in the center of the room.

Run past the distracted Root Bear, take the unconcious man to safety.

Baldwyn promptly gobbles down some pieces of the meady roots.
Afterall, his martial arts skills depends on how drunk he is.

Smite the bear with my sword.

"Remember! The mead! Any other significant objects, state it now!"
(2+2v1) The zweilander bites into the root bear's hide but (Fr:3) only half the blade follows through. (Broken Rusty Zweilander S+1 T-1) The shard of ancient relic remains embedded in the bear's knotted side.

Continue standing by and otherwise defending against the bear.
(3v6) The unlit torch scrapes along the bear's side, leaving only superficial damage.

"Damn it!"
Run past the distracted Root Bear, take the unconscious man to safety.
(6) You run deftly past the bear as it engages the others and drag the unconscious man back towards Baldwyn. As you do this, you notice some of the roots in the walls retreating to their source.

(5v5+1) The bear delivers a powerful blow to Rynn's chest, tearing the white surcoat and leaving scratches on her breastplate. The metal holds, leaving the battered hedge knight unharmed.

(1v1) The conscious members Group A remain a respectful distance from the root bear.

Baldwyn promptly gobbles down some pieces of the meady roots.
Afterall, his martial arts skills depends on how drunk he is.
You manage to suck a shot-worth of sap from the root. Normally, alcohol takes time to enter your blood but you instantly begin to feel dizzy. The whole world is tipping and swaying now and yet you feel as if nothing could be more natural. (Drunken Mastery is in effect, each turn you will roll for effects with (4) no bonus)

Check the tree for anything.
You enter the room and search for anything useful. Tables and chairs lie across the floor in various states of decomposition. Some appear to have been broken after falling from the room above, others crushed by the powerful roots that run through the room. Amongst the broken pottery you find some cutlery but it is merely pewter. You take a closer look at the tree seemingly growing from the stone itself. It is massive, with a trunk as wide as two men and branches that stretch to unseen lengths in the room above.

(4+1) As you check it's base you see movement on the far side of the room and step back quickly. Luckily, you stepped back in time to see the large root swat lazily at the spot where you used to be. The debris beneath your feet shifts as part of the trunk partially separates, opening four large, amber eyes and a gnarled mouth. More debris shifts as the other roots begin to move.

You have awoken the Den Mother.

That's the easy part...
Put him down in the corridor, try to get behind the bear to attack him.

Baldwyn stumbles over to the bear and shouts obsceneties at it.
He then attempts to avoid any attacks it does and throw in some kicks/punches with his now unpredictable movements.
