A light kick to the crate silenced the insane rambling. The dazed and confused group of people looked up from the box to see a stout, middle-aged man in leather armour shadowed my a tall figure in gilded plate.
"Now, you're all here for the same reason. You want to sign up with the Adventurers Guild, get lost, slay the dragon, fight the lich, rescue the damsel, etcetera, etcetera. Now, we've given you a nice start to that dream by bringing you here." He swept is hand over the overgrown ruin behind him. "You may or may not realise that you can't remember anything about the trip in. This is because being drugged and waking up in unfamiliar places is a surprisingly common experience for adventurers of all levels. Behind me is a root bear den with a fully grown den mother somewhere in the catacombs."
"I can see that many of you seem to be regretting your life choices but don't worry, you're not going to have to fight adult root bears. We're sending you straight into the catacombs while we-" he gestured to himself, the suit and gave the box another kick "-make a lot of noise topside. Group A," he said with a vague gesture towards the four on the right of the group, "will be heading around the back of the keep and locating the stairs on the south side. Group B," he gestured towards the remaining five that had a distinct haze of inexplicable importance about them, "will be heading in through a tunnel we prepared earlier."
He gave his eyepatch a scratch before continuing, "Are there any questions before we begin?"
