I think everybody is missing the worst thing about Bran.

He's the Three Eyed Raven. So like, super prophet guy of the faith of the Old Gods.

Old. Gods.

The gods which are notably exclusively worshipped in the part of Westeros that no longer is part of the SevenSix Kingdoms.

The rest of the continent worships the Seven. And are notoriously unfond of the Old Gods. So much, in fact, that they went through the trouble of burning every single weirwood tree they could find south of the Neck. And to that Church and it's septons Bran is basically the Pagan Witch King.

Now add to this the seasoning of religious dissent already steaming among the populace, as seen with the High Sparrow mess... And you've cooked up one hell of a new civil war.

Anyway, I just do finished the last three episodes yesterday, so now I can finally look at this thread again.

What a mess. Though at least it didn't go further down the shit chute than I already think it had. And it looked absolutely fantastic. My favourite part of the whole series as it has never disappointed me -- the intro sequence -- was the greatest, what with the broken remains of King's Landing. But the actual show. I don't even begin to even.

Why did they make Bran king. Why is Sam the Grandmaester of everything or even a lowly kind of master at that.

Why is fucking Bronn Lord Paramount of the Reach, let alone master of Coin. What does he know about coin except spending it? And ruler of the Reach. The place where your legitimacy is decided by your descendency to their legendary founder and hero-king Garth Greenfinger. Every single major house (and several minor ones) are going to consider themselves to have a bigger claim on it. Another civil war just waiting to happen.

I'm just going to stop here because there's just too much to pick at, and that's not even going into the other two episodes or the character writing.

But I enjoyed seeing their fuckup uncle again after all these years, nice to show they remembered him. Even if the joke on his expense was in pretty poor taste. "Durr hurt lolz look at this guy he's been through hell and kept in a dungeon for years but he's still a fuckup lulz lulz lulz". Jesus D&D, I know you're severe douchebags, but give the man a break.

And lastly,  I didn't even realise that guy was supposed to be Robyn Arryn. Is it really the same actor? He has grown up barely resembling himself. Apparently Sansa slapped the awkward straight out of him.

'cause they were playing musical chairs and he brought his own while Drogon burned the other one.

Is it stated anywhere that Bran has future sight as well? I think they've pretty explicitly not stated that, only that he has knowledge of all history and vision of just about everywhere in the present. There's a lot you can somewhat accurately predict about the future with that much knowledge, but I don't think it's flat out foreknowledge.

As for the religious issue... Godswoods aren't limited to the north. Almost every major castle has one to some extent, including King's Landing's Red Keep. There might have been some friction there, but it's hardly an unresolvable issue. The one at Storm's End was the only one that was intentionally burnt, as far as I'm aware, by Stannis when he was on that God of Light kick.

Bran has seen in the future at times. Ergo, he can see in to the future.

Of course this is D&D, so maybe they'd say "What, just because he's seen in to the future before makes you think he can see in to the future?!?!??!!"

One of the show's biggest problems is that it doesn't care about its own fucking rules. Meaning everything and nothing are possible when it fits the plot.

HBO offered D&D 10 seasons
D&D wanted 7 seasons
HBO forced them to do at least 8 seasons
they didn't care about jack diddly shit except "MOMENTS"

You know, it probably says something about GRRMs writing of the source material that it was able to cover for the fact that one of the core writers was also one of the core writers of X-Men Origins: Wolverine for half a decade.

I'm sure with the total lack of source material to work with, their original ideas will be great. Maybe they can get Rian Johnson to consult about "subverting expectations."

Well... if you consider looking like Rob Schneider's love child good, I guess.

He's had visions of the future during the series. Ergo, he can see the future when the plot requires it.
