As for the dragon, is my recollection correct in that flame came from the wound as it fell? It's possible that he was going for one breathing fire, making it easier to take down.

That was ... okayish. The show runners seem to have acclimatized to the new type of show GOT is now. Not the smoothest transition from one type of show to another, but for better or worse it's become a classic fantasy series, and probably will end up a fairly solidish one.

They could've just made the Belgariad into a TV show if they wanted to do that sort of thing, but whatever.

There was some minor, lame foreshadowing in the story. Anyway, GoT is directly inspired by the War of the Roses (but with zombies, dragons, and duplicate characters) and given that Daenerys and Jon Starkaryenow are a kind of a stand-in for Henry Tudor  and Elizabeth of York, them hooking up was not unforeseeable

The first time they met he didn't take any of her pride but did so in a way that made sense to her and that made her respect him.
Then there was the cave thing "Hey look these two mortal enemies worked together to defeat the big threat", all set to the romantic flickering of torch light.
He got her respect again when he told her to be sensible and not burn them all
Drogon liked Jon, they smiled at each other.
He went on stupid dangerous mission, this really impresses chicks.
She goes to rescue him, he shows off being a hero by being a rearguard
Danny is sad that he is missing, then happy he is found but concerned he is hurt. She really likes his scars, chicks dig scars.
They have they tender hand holding moment, and she's talking about babies.


Totally foreshadowed that they were going to bone.
Of course I did watch something about how the whole book series was all about the journey of how these two hook up.

But yeah, I agree with you, the thing is, Mormont is like 50-60 (dunno what show puts him at, I think he might have been in his late 40s during the 1st season). Jon is the same age as her.

According to my wife it has been incredibly obvious that Dany has been attracted to Jon pretty much since their first meeting. She points it out every time Dany gives him a particular type of look. So, apparently quite obvious if you're good at picking up that sort of thing. I probably would not have noticed anywhere quite so soon, but it became obvious even to me that they were on track to hook up for a while now.
