I'm really happy with all the condensation that they did in this season. It removed a lot of the silly, unnecessarily complicated subplots from this part of the books, among which:

Spoiler: for those curious, spoilers for things that may or may not happen in the show (click to show/hide)

- Mance is actually alive, they burned a decoy Mance with the help of Melisandre. He's the one who goes to rescue Sansa; Brienne is abducted by Lady Stonehart.

- Jaime trades action for character development, as he realizes Cersei is psychotic and runs around Westeros cleaning up after Rob Stark's rebellion. Bronn is MIA, Illyn Payne trains Jaime to use his left hand.

- The Sand Snakes attempt to kidnap Myrcella with the aid of... some dude who mattered for some reason. Myrcella is merely wounded in an altercation, and the books leave off with a Kingsguard still on his bloody way to see her. The Sand Snakes spend a lot of their time in prison, sitting around and being bored. Their big reveal is that Prince Doran has been playing the long game to take down the Lannisters, which anybody with two brain cells could have guessed.

- Jorah and Tyrion spend several months being slaves, before both of them are abducted by Jon Connington (an incredibly minor background character, a Targaryen loyalist who gets a few offhand mentions in the first book). I don't remember, but I don't think any of them even reach Mereen. Jon is the one who gets greyscale, instead of Jorah.

Things that I'll actually give a shit about not seeing:

- The Brothers Without Banners, and their new leader Lady Stoneheart. Now that Rob Stark is gone, they're basically executing Freys, Lannisters, and anybody that may have inadvertently aided them along the way.

- Wyman Manderly, a minor noble, is holed up in Winterfell with the Boltons, along with a whole bunch of Frey cousins. He's somehow having the Freys secretly murdered and plotting against the Boltons, all the while pretending to be a fat useless idiot.

- The Ironborn are sailing east, and they aim to bring Daenerys back with them. I will not miss the hundreds of pages of bickering, exposition and general nothing that led up to this point, and I will especially not miss Victarion "wahhh i beat my wife to death" Greyjoy.

Everybody gets a turn with the idiot ball this season, but Stannis is the most egregious case. Book!Stannis bought some of Melisandre's stuff, but he wasn't dumb like he has been this season.

Ollie or whatever that kid's name is is my new favourite character.
I assumed he was gonna disappoint me by being a whiny little bitch and forgiving Jon Snow for everything he'd done because 'hurr durr he's the main character'. I'm glad that something happy happened to make up for all the depressing shit happening earlier... although seeing Mister Clegane again cheered me up, too.

Here's hoping he gets set loose to slaughter all those annoying zealot guys who somehow managed to take over the city despite being armed only with robes and clubs. Fuck unrealism. They're like the 'Ramsay shirtless fight scene' on the scale of an entire city.

And once that's dealt with they can go conquer Dorne and kill everyone in it, because fuck that place with a rusty morningstar.
Next thing Bronn's probably gonna die from a poisoned ear hickey or something.

The real strength of the Sparrows is not their robe and cloaks, is that they generally have the support of the people and the Faith. You can't really order your soldiers to assault the main Sept and kill the high Septon, or half of your men will desert and the rest will be murdered by the Mob.

But they've basically run the city into the ground. The montage of them when Cersei first gave them the okay showed them closing/destroying taverns, brothels, any form of entertainment, somehow fighting off the guards/owners/patrons of said establishments... realistically the common people would be tearing them to shreds even if the actual guards/army weren't doing anything.

It seemed pretty silly how all that rabble was so eager to hate on Cersei when (as bad as she's been to them) the people marching her along were at least as bad. I guess they live in fear of these dudes and their Robes of Protection +5 same as everyone else.

Btw: I've been amused this season by the similarities the Sand Snake's venom's simmilarities with acenocoumarol, down to the time to symptom onset and antidote.

But I suspect that if Book!Shiren burns it will not be by Mannis' order, but Melissandre's doing in a ploy to resurrect Jon, or  even Stannis, if the pink letter is not bullshit

Honestly the worst thing about this season - other than the entirety of Dorne because it was pointless bullshit filler - was Ramsay becoming a god.
Seriously, dude effortlessly wins at everything he does. It's not even fun(ny) to watch anymore.

Also book Ramsay couldn't fight his way into a paper bag, while this guy casually kills the Ironborn equivalent of SEAL team 6 (Yara specifically said she gathered the best killers in the iron islands) while shirtless, with a dagger, while the other two or three guys are fully armed and armoured. He also has the capacity to seduce people if he so feels like it, is the best military commander in Westeros, seeing as what he did this episode (not a scratch on him afterwards, I note), is able to torture whoever the hell he wants, including his own bannermen, with no repercussions, and doesn't look bad either.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if the fucker turns out to be the Prince that was Promised because there ain't no one more qualified than the sexy stealthy plot armoured army crushing impossible to kill flaying charismatic SuperBolton as of now.
