My theory: the dead girl was future Arya Stark, brought in the past by the Doctor.

But was the corpse not said to be three years old?

Was it the Red Witch's idea?

This might have something to do with it.
She seem to be pulling strings lately.

The reason was shown, but so in passing it might as well not have happened. Sir Onion got letter from the Night's Watch that they needed help, rushed to Stannis and the Red Witch said it was a good idea, so north they went.

Jorah? Jorah 'Lord Friendzone' the Andal?

This always kinda bugged me. I mean, it's obvious the character who best embodies the "friendzone" is Littlefinger.

Well yeah, fucker derailed the economy of Westeros and started a civil war over his blue balls, but apparently Jorah's friend zone is more obvious.

Well I guess Jorah is closer to what people in the friendzone imagine themselves as, but Littlefinger is closer to how people who complain about being friendzoned come across to the rest of the world :)

As far as I can tell, Littlefingers plan is basically:
1. Get with woman who never thought of him as more than a friend and has been very clear about that the entire time.
2. Alternatively, get with a woman who is the teenage daughter of a woman who never thought of him as more than a friend and etc.
3. Burn the world to be king of the ashes.

I mean, honestly the final part of that plan? Pretty badass. I can respect 3. It's the first two that make the character too disturbing for me to root for :P

Yep, though by the time of the first season, he's pretty much abandoned his hopes for Catelyn and is instead going for her much more malleable daughter.

I assumed that during the first season he was still working off:
1. Kill Nedd Stark
2. ? ? ?
3. Catelyn. And Iron Throne. And profit.

And it wasn't until the events of the third that he really switched focus onto the daughter as "Backup Catelyn".
