I didn't care too much for Sansa until the plot to smuggle her out of the Red Keep. Then she got a touche more character depth and had more motivations to struggle with. Hopefully they can pull it off in the series.

His personal philosophy is never to do what others expect. Make moves no one would ever believe to be in your character. He's either amorous over Sansa and is investing trust in her to get her to trust him, or else is using her as another pawn in his plans. Unlikely since he's also grooming her to be as wonderful a liar as him.

In addition to the whole deus ex machina Aegon appearing from nowhere being highly unlikely, Illyrio's wife having the traits of a Targaeryan and such; when Belwas talks of Illyrio hearing of Viserys's death, he retails how Illyrio weeps and laments.
Selmy reflects on whether Illyrio is weeping for Viserys or his claim to the throne being lost.
If Illlyrio had been harbouring a real Targaeryan all this time, he would not have wept so.

'Aegon' is not the real Aegon. The real Aegon was killed by the mountain at the sacking of King's landing and this one is the son of Illyrio and is a false pretender.

Rereading any book is a good way to start noticing details and seeing things from new perspectives. Moreso A Song of Fire and Ice, a series where not even the weary, fatigued and tired can know respite from its cruel entrancement.

The thing about reading a game of thrones is that I'm paying enough of my attention to how one things going to impact another and how it affects my personal theories that it takes a while to realize when the plot isn't actually that good at the moment.
