To keep myself occupied until there are more episodes, I'm playing games. (Sorry if this has come up in the thread already - I only just found it today and don't have time to read through it all.) I know I should read the books, but it's hard to find English-language books where I live and even Amazon's shipping fees are high when something is being sent here, so I'm putting that off until I have more money.
The first game I'm trying is the RPG on Steam that was a part of a Humble Bundle recently. I haven't gotten very far just yet. You have to watch about 25 minutes of cutscenes before you're allowed to do anything at all, then you are dropped in the middle of a mock battle with minimal instruction on how to play the game. The controls are really rough (though I'm not generally a player of first-person games, so maybe I'm just not used to it). However, I hear the story is really good, the graphics are pretty nice, and the voice acting, though slow, seems decent, so I'll try to stick with it.
The other one is far simpler and I'd like to invite other fans to join me. It's an online game,
Game of Thrones: Ascent. At first glance it's similar to a lot of these free to play online multiplayer games: you are occasionally "offered" special "deals" on buying currency and such, so the game developers can make money. The gameplay involves a lot of waiting. HOWEVER, it is similar to games like Fallen London in that there are a lot of options and interesting story to play through. The time delays prevent you from exhausting all the material too quickly. You have to make decisions, balancing what you want to do against how it will make you and your House look. You hire Sworn Swords and send them on missions which advance the story, manage the buildings and resources at your keep, and there are various options for interactions with other players. You can forge alliances or declare feuds and attack your enemies. In some situations, friends can help each other out during various plot points. The music and sound are quite good in my opinion, and the images are fairly nice, though the game does tend to lag sometimes (although that might be my old machine unable to keep up with the game).
If anyone wants to join me, I'm meganleb on Kongregate, or Aira Vidzej in the game. I don't have any "buddies" at the moment, and it would be nice to explore the multiplayer options.
