the hypotenuse had to die. Daenerys "I have three two large draghuns" Targaryen is far fonder of Jorah in the series than in the book, Therefore he was going out if she was hooking up with Jon.  I didn't expect him to get killed out by a dumb pirate, of all things. I hoped he'd get a more dramatic, meaningful death... just as I hoped that Stannis the Mannis would turn out to be the anti-Azor-Azhai that the books hint he will become.  I don't like TV series Euron, just as I didn't like TV series Ramsay. They just artificially sue-up dislikeable characters in order to make them credible antagonists, and they've done that because they're afraid of not having a dislikeable antagonist after Joffrey. But Joffrey wasn't a Villain Sue *grumble*

Well that was an enjoyable if dumb episode.

The cynic in me tells that this entire, dumb, subplot was just set up just so the white walkers get an undead dragon so that they can use it to melt a part of the wall next episode.

Also what is with all the plot teleporting this episode, at least so far they've kept it to between shows. And now we have both Dany-Dragon and Smithguy teleporting (unless they were like literally fifty meters away from the Wall).

Also also since when is the fucking Smithguy who have never seen snow before the fastest runner in ankle deep snow. Have D&D never seen snow themselves?

Also lastlso why would the undead horde even give a damn about brittle ice. They're dead, there's many hundreds of them, they could literally just march their way over on the bottom and thenhack their way through the ice from below it *insert theory about undead ironborn vikings here* we literally saw them doing this when Bran reached the Ravenweir beyond the Wall.

judging by the amount of time they were traveling to get to where they sent gendry off it was at least a few hundred miles, so he logically marathoned that shit in like a day tops

I Do have a theory, of sorts..

What if.. The Night King has similar capabilities as the Three-Eyed Raven? Or at least the ability to see parts of the future or something?
That would explain why that "scouting party" got ambushed so easily. Because it was, in fact, a trap. No matter if sacrifices been made, can always gain new minions.
Now why would he let this happen? And why would he just wait for the ice to refreeze? Never mind the ice-cold water, he would easily sacrifice more pawns to get to that island either way.
My theory is that he knew of the dragons and was simply waiting for them to arrive. So that he could gain one of his own.
I do agree that he should had gotten Drogon first, but I believe that he knows something we don't, and chose Visrerion for a reason.

So maybe this all only looks stupid, because The Night King can do more than the show so far has led us to believe?


Now this theory doesn't explain all the stupid stuff that has happened in recent episodes. I do agree they all have some faults as well as merits.
