Bumping for lateness, I only just finished season 6 of GoT and felt the need to gush.

I'll start with a simple heartwarming point out about the finale; most of the chessmaster type players of the game (of thrones) keeps secrets and lies and just goes on with it, Sansa, now a good player in her own right, actually went and apologized for holding info from Jon. Wow. I sense a powerful brother (actually cousin DOUBLE SPOILER) and sister team that will make us all contract diabetes and I'm fucking loving it. The happy contented smile that she put her only (to her current knowledge) living family back in charge of their rightful home made me giggle like a little schoolgirl. The good guys are winning and poised to win some more before the shit drops on all of them and my body is ready for more.

Except apparently, according to the Word of God Saint Paul says that Sansa, in the KINGINDANORF scene realizes that Littlefinger had a point and that her feelings when his bastard half-brother relative is now DAKINGINDANORF and that she doesn't get enough recognition for "getting" the cavarly to win the battle and maybe she might actually go against Jon.
Also... good guys? Winning? Man, it's just Jon who managed to capture Winterfell and soon he's either going to get bumfucked by White Walkers/Daenerys and basically everyone else who could be considered good is on their way to get fucked beyond belief... and hey, either way everyone dies because George R "fuck your character if anyone likes him" R Martin is just like that.

GRRM clearly likes throwing out a ~shocking twist~ here and there but that doesn't necessarily mean the story as a whole will have a downer ending. Given the trajectory of Jon's and Daenerys' stories it seems fairly likely to me they'll triumph over the White Walkers.

I guess an alternative path you could go down is to have the White Walkers win and have the overall arc be a tragic tale of the failure of humans to co-operate with each other. But I'm struggling to see the justification for all the time spent on Jon and Daeny if they do just fall on their faces

So bets on the ending time? I'm calling a bet on hippy ending where everyone realizes the value of peace and unity and shit. Whether that includes the white walkers or not, I'm guessing in books white walkers join in on peace, in show they get burninated and retreat.
Sorta makes sense too, cos winter is vital for the ecosystem, you can't just... Remove season?
