quick question on magma
« on: March 13, 2007, 10:19:00 pm »

hey, i just tried to build my magma smelter using a magma channel for the magma slot and it refused to accept magma channels for the needed magma.

              ~
           ///~
           //~~
           ///

       / = building
       ~ = magma channel

since it is magma......why not have it work like that.......(this is annoying for me because i had created an arduously built network to get the magma all the way from the river to the chasm so it will be about half the distance for my smelters and metal workers to walk).

thanks

Currently flows in channels are not valid for buildings requiring them.  I.e. Magma buildings, and mills.

This is a fairly common complaint/suggestion.  Might want to take a look at the threads about this elsewhere.  (Suggestion forum etc.)

I have a different q about magma. I just sattioned some unwanted immigrants in a room and then flooded it with magma. I expected them to die, but they are just walking around in a room filled with magma. What's the deal? Is magma broken right now.

Do you have temperature turned on or off in the .ini file?

You'd think they could still drown in magma. It is a liquid afterall.

yes, but its a dense liquid.  dwarfs would be bouyant enough to float.

Sounds kinda stupid that you can float in lava.

Goblin 1: Is that lava-tsunami or something.
Goblin 2: Yes it is, but don't worry, you will float.
Goblin 3: That's great!
