B. assuming that we have very limited resources which we should spend where it will do the most good.
We chose human and we were told at the start we have economic resources.

And how many zombies do we want to outfit with how much armor? And how many other expenses are we incurring? We might have a lot of cash, but war isn't cheap.

After much writing you come up with a ≡Diplomatic Letter for the Elven lords≡ in which you state the current situation of the war, and the necessity of forming an alliance if we wish to stop the Ferelon before further damage is done. The letter is finished; you send it to the scribes of the college so that they may copy it and distribute it to all of the elven city-states.  The letter addressed to the dwarves is not faring as well and you decide you’ll be finishing it tomorrow after a good sleep.

Levitate. Levitate now. Levitate until it is boring. Levitate more.

How long would a detour through elven or dwarven lands take? Can we leave early?

Lobby for access to the city's graves, better to use them now to hold the pass than to save them for some flimsy defence of the city.

Try to contact dead dwarves in an effort to gain leverage with their people.

Send letters to all the elven lords citing the usual unity in the face of doom line. Imply that some of the elven nations have already joined your cause.

Hire some of the experienced mercenaries and send them ahead with some parts and labour to assist with the fortification of the pass.

P.S.
The Romans made extensive use of constructions, if those constructions happen to spring out of the ground at our whim, and there happens to be a fire in front of it, then so much the better. But there is little point in worrying about what might have been...

The next morning, being awaked by the sound of two students fighting in the halls bellow your room, you decide to forsake your usual Saturday’s bath and just dress in newly adquired  Archmage’s robes; you make a mental note about the importance of sleep and about punishing the idiots who depraved you from it . You feel too tired to walk to the teachers’ hall and decide to cast:

LEVITATE

As you sleepily float all the way down to the teachers’ hall, you decide it will be better if you finish the preparations and depart as soon as possible. Speaking of preparations, you still haven’t even thought about what you should take to the journey and, worse yet,  don’t even have a map! Realizing that, you change your mind and decide to make a quick trip to the library in order to fetch a map  and  in the way you get some more charcoal and scrolls for all the letters and notes you plan on writing.

Finally having arrived at the teachers’ hall, you sit in the usual table, where you engulf your breakfast, something that is surprisingly hard to do while levitating at two feet from the ground. You also take advantage of this little free time and discuss with your friends the current situation. Surprisingly, most of them are willing to accompany you in the mission, and even suggest you should  ask Gramorious Foregi, one of the elders, if he wishes to accompany you. During the conversation you tell them about your plans of hiring mercenaries and amassing a huge undead army before arriving to Skarrane, they originally suggest you against to bring an undead army into the fortress but you manage to convince them otherwise.

Once your friends leave to impart their respective classes, and you are again able to sit down thanks to the effects of the levitation spell wearing off,  you take out the region map in order to begin planning your journey. Obvious options are to stick to the roads, traveling through the human cities of Delener, and Redanes, places where you could hire some mercenaries or get some news of the Aljerenian army; transverse the jungles where the elven city-state of Ajame is located;  cross the wastes of infamy and travel to the ruined city of Thioldel to raise your undead army (a travesty you should probably do alone). It’s also a good time to start planning what to take : a nice sword and suit of armor and several scrolls of communication come to mind.

LEVITATE

Ask Otheos about Forengi. Also ask them about the arrangements the council is making...

Have the Order of The White Sun and Army of Delener prepare to join you. Leave 25 members of the guard remain at Delener to maintain some order, and leave enough of the order behind that they can rebuild if we get an opportunity to sacrifice them all...

Take the Archmage’s robes to a tailor. No millennia of historical and arcane significance will keep use from a decent-looking uniform...

Appoint Ea to take the army through human lands.

Make preparations to leave with your cabal and some expendable or trustworthy mercenaries two days before the army departs. You will be going through the wastes of infamy and on to Thioldel.

Make preparations to leave with your cabal and some expendable or trustworthy mercenaries two days before the army departs. You will be going through the wastes of infamy and on to Thioldel.

After not much meditation, you formulate your master plan. You’ll be sending Ea through human territory so that he can recruit both the army of Delener and a significant amount of knights and lead them to Skarrane, place where he is to await for you to return with your undead army. Among his orders are to hire as most mercenaries as he can find, and outfit them in as much armog your funds allow to buy.

Regarding the undead army, you will obtain it from the ruined city of Thioldel. Traveling there will provide a difficult challenge, as you’ll have to cross both the city of infamy and the desert in which the city is located. You’ll start to ravel tomorrow with the rest of your friends and the three mercenaries that you have already hired.

Proud for developing such a cunning plan in a such short amount of time, you decide to cast

LEVITATE

Such that the lesser minds might stare in awe at your magnificence, noting that other people don’t really appear to notice such magnificence, you conclude that your outfit is surely to blame; and v visit the tailor from the college so that he can modify it into something more fitting of the concept of a necromancer general. Poor guy seems pretty scared of your floating around and the authority of your voice and promises that your suit will be done for this afternoon.

Your suit finally being taken care of, you decide to go ask with Otheos about the elders, especially about Foregi. It seems that Foregi used to be a diplomat between the humans and dwarves during the last era; you didn’t got much more information as it seems the elders utilize some sort of spell that makes it impossible you to divine their future actions.
After a much deserved lunch, you arrange a meeting with the elders. In which you discuss your plans and give them the list of the equipment you’ll be needing. They agree, not before scolding you  for not wearing the tradititional robes.

It’s still early afternoon, maybe you can do some preparing before leaving.

At the meeting:
-Invite Gramorious Foregi to tag along with you

Then:
-Ask Otheos Gumbrijid if he would be willing to accompany you to the edge of the ruined city so you don't have to make that leg of the journey alone. He can turn back after that. If he seems hesitant, offer to take a detour through Ajeme and treat him to one last night of partying with the elves before your likely death.
-Ask Esvas Duskor to go to Orrosk and Lliea and recruit as many mercenaries, adventurers, and perhaps even desperate prisoners as she can from those settlements to serve as backup.

Go shopping:
Get yourself a weapon
Get a camel to serve as your mount for the quest
Check out the local magic shop/artificers to see if there are any magical goods that could serve you on your journey
Aquire Mana potions or this games equivilant
