    Rafael is the eldest son of the main family of the prestigious Vanderkruise line of Triloma Paladins. To their great disappointment, while he showed promise as a warrior, he didn't display many of the traits necessary to become a Paladin. He ignored most of his church duties, would fritter money away on wine and women, and in general be more hedonistic than respectful of his family's customs. His family decided the best thing to do would be to send him out into the world to make his own way for a few years; hopefully he would come back a wiser and more thoughtful individual after being forced to earn the wages he 'wasted.' He hasn't been out of the country long and is still pretty friendly and easygoing.
