Distribute the armor and weapons amongst the goblins and ourself. Chat to determine who the goblin leader is, and if it is us.

Also, ask if there's a friendly settlement or encampment nearby where you could get your arm looked at by a professional.

In a addition, inspect the Mage-Lieutenant's corpse for anything interesting. Did he really have nothing other than a weapon? Same goes for the Leader. Also check for money with the aid of goblins.

You ask if there is a Goblin-Friendly Settlement/Encampment around. There seems to be one, just a few hundred miles ahead. It has a Goblin Shaman as well, which are known to be able to heal, or inflict, wounds. In the meanwhile, your Goblins have gone around, looting the corpses of most of the Dead Mercenaries. You check on both the Mercenary Leader as well as the Mage Lieutenant.
The
Mercenary Leader has a few Personal Letters on him, as well as a Personal Diary.
The
Mage-Lieutenant's Corpse yields a few interesting books, called The Way of the Path, a book about Path-Clearing Magic, one called You, Me and Dung, a book about, well... Jack Shit Magic. You are uncertain what's in them, but you're certain enough that you can at least read these. He only had a Awesome Inscribed Wooden Staff (Crystal On Top not included)™ for weapons, and only a Tattered Robe for clothing. No underclothing. You did NOT want to know that.
Your Left Shoulder hurts a bit, but at the very least it is bandaged now, thanks to some random Goblin helping you while you were looting salvaging enemy equipment. YOu also ascertain your status as Goblin Leadah (Mandatory Medal™ included)
What will you do?

Firstly, find a good, low-profile spot to make camp with the goblins.

Read the foreword of You, Me and Dung if there is one. The title is quite intriguing.

After that, read the personal letters, then the personal diary.

Also, find the smartest goblin (if they're all about equal, choose the one that did the bandaging) among our fine group. Give him the Awesome Inscribed Wooden Staff.

Save the staff for the shaman. Read the journal and letters first.

You proceed to the Goblin-Friendly Settlement, seeing as it is actually quite low-profile. You barely even noticed it until you were IN there. However, it's inside of Hard-To-Navigate Caves, so you probably won't be able to get out on your own. At least, not in about two weeks. On the travels there, you read the foreword of You, Me and Dung. It is a quite intriguing book, with a beginner's section and a coupon for two copper pieces off You, Me and Dung: Advanced. Quite the deal, it seems.
The Personal Letters contain letters to the Mercenary Commander's family. Nothing worth noting. The Personal Diary holds no information of value, outside of the name of Krâk-Bröt, the City-State that hired the Now-Mostly-Dead Mercenaries.
You also decide to keep the
Awesome Inscribed Wooden Staff (Crystal On Top not included)™ for a little longer, until you have decided on what to do with it.
What will you do?

Continue reading the first two chapters. Assess welfare of the Goblin-Friendly Settlement. Determine hierarchy of the settlement, and relationship to goblin band we now enjoy membership with. If leader, determine status of important infrastructure (health, education, industry) of the settlement. Otherwise, assess current leadership.

Make sure to obtain information on who lives in the settlement - goblins or something else? Also, seek information on the surrounding area. Finally, find shaman. See if he's got anything interesting to say or teach us.

Agreed. Also see if we can sell the extra equipment somewhere.

You continue on reading in You, Me and Dung...
You have learned a new Spell: Infuse Substance!
You'll need at least:
A decent amount of Substance,
1x Metal Nugget (potency increases as value increases),
1x Wooden Log (Safety Element, will not be consumed if all goes right)
Creates: Infused Substance (1x)

You have learned a new Spell: Control Substance!
You'll need at least:
1x Infused Substance
1x Metal Nugget (Potency increases as value increases)

You try to obtain some information on the Goblin Settlement. You seem to be the Goblin Mayor as well as the Goblin Leader. Goblin Politics are easy. The Goblin Settlement's hierarchy has you on top, the Goblin Shaman right below you and the soldiers and farmers are just above the slaves. All of the infrastructure of the town is quite primitive.

Study the surrounding caves with the aid of the natives, look for:

  • Good hiding places.
  • Good places to build fortifications.
  • All possible exits from the caves, where they lead to.
  • Any mineral deposits around.
  • Locations and/or other resources of note in the caverns.
