Name: Valkyrie I
No. of Engineers: 10
Work Space: 10
What It Is: Light Fighter Plane

Plane Type: Closed Cockpit Biplane
Crew Members: 1 (pilot)

Armament:
- Fixed 7.62mm machine-gun x2 (forward-firing, operated by pilot)

Engine: 1000 Horsepower Aircraft Engine (upsize it if necessary)

Cruising Speed: 154 MPH
Max. Speed: 217 MPH
Max. Ceiling Altitude: 14,738 ft (probably just barely enough to clear a mid-sized mountain)

This should be worked on as soon as engineers and space becomes available next year. We need to arm our air force should we be attacked somehow. I'll come up with a heavier fighter later on.

(( Enough ideas lol.
We have about 20 tasks requiring over 100 engineers at this point and about 10+ years of work at current numbers. ))

Seems pretty advanced for 1920's tank doctrine. I was developing the LAT-35 this turn and having an engineer sent to specialize in tanks so that we could potentially fit it in a small light tank like the MS-1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-18_tank

Not sure how realistic kingfisher wants to keep this, but something like that would be much closer to something built at the time.

Really it is a medium tank with rather advanced engine + suspension and a big gun. nothing too advanced about that.

Lets not make the same mistakes as they did in real life.

also, we could always petition the government to give us more engineers.

Problems with your tank

a) 52 tonnes is not a medium tank. Tiger was 57
b) 160 mm armor is ridiculous for the tank of that era, tiger had 120mm.... And only on front. Tank with 160mm steel armor on all sides would weight something like 200 tonnes
c) 105 mm gun is an overkill for that era and heavy.
d) 1600HP engine? Thats more than Abrams have.

And so on

we should try to see what the cost of buying in weapons and engines is, we cant make every thing in house.

As others pointed out, you're going less for a medium tank and more for a Maus(and a Maus mas more a vanity project due to being too heavy for anything other than traveling roads, and even then, at 100 tons still exceeded most bridges' weight limits!)

Points: (Why everyone ignored this? )

SVA
Damage - 2 points
Cheap - 2 points
Reliable - 3 points
Long Range - 3 point

That's an early assault rifle, expect it to be heavy and unwieldy, at best BAR analog, but likely worse... Let's make it into a cheap, suppression weapon capable to knock down unarmored vehicles like trucks from far away

AIA
Very crappy weapon, IMO... 200mm is a nice caliber for heavy howitzer (should have used historical 215mm), but for gun it's megaheavy, and 4 men crew is way to low for that monster

I suggest to put 6 points into damage and forget about using  that dubious thing, and then use it for buildings guns for pillboxes, as it is too heavy for any other use

And new projects. we need machineguns\guns before we develop any tanks, so I propose:

1)Name: TP1 ( Танковый пулемёт 1)
Number Of Engineers: 5
Workspace:5
What It Is: 14.5x114mm belt fed, air cooled HMG used on vehicles or as tripod/pillar mounted defensive weapons. Should have a RPM of about 620 and can be fitted with a high capacity, left mounted ammo box for quick reloads and better reliability. Can also be fitted with a water-tight sleeve and solid barrel for conversion into a water cooled gun.
Firing Method: Gas Operation
Belt Length: 200-400 rounds of ammunition
Sights: Fixed blade (front sight), adjustable notch (rear sight)

Name: LUP-40 (лёгкая универсальная пушка)
Number Of Engineers: 10 (or 9 if sending to university will make one engenieer unaviable)
Workspace: 15
What It Is: Our existing naval 40mm AA gun modernized and modified to be used on land, should be universal depending on ammo used: HE for infantry support, AP for anti-tank role, fragmentation for AA role. Relies on trucks, trains or horses to be moved great distances, but has wheels so can be pushed into new positions by it's crew. Should not be difficult to operate or too bulky

Send 1 engineer to get specialty in metallurgy, Good alloys are useful for most weapons

And let's limit ourself on one or two projects per turn, we'll get much better weapons that way

Oh man. This is incredible activity, I never expected this much activity.
On the role of engineers: You do not need engineers after designing the project. The gunship's robust hull does not need more engineers, it is fine as is. Just pick the perks. Then, there will be a prototype test. It will test the weapon in a live fire test on a range. The better it does, the government may choose to support you.
Now, the period accuracy. If you try to build something that was uncommon or not even invented yet, there WILL be a roll. Based on your engineer's skill. If it fails then the project is dead in the water.

Now, please vote for which weapons will be built and how points will be assigned.

1927
The new projects have been finished. Now all that remains is the testing.
SVA-25 Test 1- Short Range
The testing soldier fires a burst at the target. He misses the target.
He fires another burst and hits the target. Now the weapon is getting better.
He fires a final burst and hits the target very close to the centre.
Test 2- Medium Range
The soldier looses off three bursts, two missing and one hitting very well.
Test 3- Long range
He finally looses off three bursts. Two hit and one misses.
The watching government officials and commanders clap, and are very impressed with the weapon.
Next the AIA is tested.
Only one test is necessary.
The gunners fire a barrage of three shells at a brick building down range. All three shells hit, and completely demolish the building, causing thunderous applause from the watching officials.
The Minister for Finance And Industry meets you after the demonstration, and says that you will be receiving some more engineers and a new office next year.
Now all that remains is the new blueprints!
Project TP-1
Points: 10
Damage: 14
Accuracy: 7
Perks Available:
Lightweight ( 5 points )
Armour Piercing (8 points)
AA Mount ( 4 Points)
Project LUP-40
Points: 30
Damage: 7
Accuracy: 12
Perks:
Fast Winch: ( 12 Points )
Fast Reloading ( 9 points )
Heavy Armour Piercing ( 20 Points )
Heavy HE ( 15 Points )
So now is the time you can start producing weapons. There are 5 standard infantry divisions, each with 8000 men. Keep that in mind as you produce weapons, as there will soon be specialised Engineers, Artillery, mountain, Marine, and other types of division.
Production:
1 Ordinance Capacity produces 150 SVA-25's. 1 Ordinance capacity produces two AIAs.
The government has completed construction of it's Naval Shipyard. One ship up to size 10 can be produced per year, and this allows testing of the Gunship. Also your new Metallurgist is ready.

Production:
20 AIA
1500 SVA-25

Points:
TP-1
Armour Piercing (8 points)
Damage - 2 points
This machine gun will be not very effective at hunting enemy infantry, but it will be devastating for light armor of the era and we may build our first tank around it.
Maxims are good enough for anti-personal usage

LUP-40
Damage: 7 + 7
Accuracy: 12 + 2
Fast Winch: ( 12 Points )
Fast Reloading ( 9 points )

IMO we should keep it's universal gun role, may design dedicated anti-tank gun later

I suggest to design an APC, to get some experience before we go further

BTR-1
Crew: driver+7 passengers.
Wheeled-tracked propulsion
Weapons: None but personal weapons of infantry inside
Max speed: 60kms per hour
Cruise speed: 30-40kms per hour
Armor: Light, open top
Workspace: 10
Engineers: 6+ metallurgy specialist

LT-1 (лёгкий транспорт) Light transport aircraft, to provide some mobility to our forces, kickstart paratrooper creation and get experience in aircraft construction

Speed: 150-200 km per hour
Range: (depending on load) 400-800 kms
Load: up to 500 kg of useful cargo
Workspace:10
Engineers: 8

I really dislike the idea to design a tank around some gun before it was tested, same goes for fighter

And I'd rather design new machine-gun(or use maxims) for the universal machine gun role and AA mounts imply that it is not a multi-role but  AA weapon that can be used in other roles.
Also, AP machine gun looks better for fighters. And I am against going all metal, mostly because that is expensive thing to do.

We need universal gun for infantry support\AAG role\anti-tank role.. Designing different guns for every role is too expensive for our small nation

and, BTW, we have only 15 engineers, not 20

PS: 500HP is way too much for the tank of that era.

hmmm, point, I'm gonna drop weight by 10 tons and horsepower on the engine by 200(that shouldn't be too much by late 20's/early 30's standards). Since we are an island nation, I was going for a fast tank that can respond to any sort of landing with an effective gun(and decent armor to take a hit or two).

Also, yeah, going all metal might be overkill at this point, but I'm still going for monoplane. Plus, we don't HAVE to have these vehicles armed yet, after all we need to test them first!(We can have wooden mockups of the guns put in if we need to)

Also, chaning my votes for the points to yours, that sounds better to me
