+1 to that proposal.

Same here except for helicopter. Still not sure we should do a helicopter.....

(flipped a coin and came up tails. Sorry UR!)

If nothing else, the Wasps can be the testbeds for our torpedos....

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

-1 to that proposal, helicopters are not going to be any use to us any time soon and we need to get a strong airforce going, get a decent plane out first then work on helicopters the planes will be useful in a much shorter time span.

We need to build more AIA as well, 20 in total is not enough, if the enemy lands in force 20 cannons won't be much use against any armor they deploy, we'd need 10x to spread across our force for anti armor, targetting enemies in buildings or entrenched positions and sinking transport ships.

The rest looks good, but can we also add sending an engineer to university for training in modular ship design? I wanna start making bigger ships next year so I need a decent engineer for it.

What about 4 designs plan

Name: LBA-280
Number Of Engineers: 5
What It Is: A land based immovable large howitzer firing 280 mm rounds for defense of large cities and forts against advancing forces, and naval (if situated near coast) threats.

Weight: 87,360 lb (39,625.8 kg)
Length:  12.735 m (41 ft 9 in)
Barrel length: 12.006 (39 ft 5 in) L/50
Crew: 15? (guessing here.)
Shell:   650 lb (294.8 kg)
Calibre: 11 inches (280 mm)
Carriage: Static only
Elevation: -10 to +80
Traverse: 360
Rate of fire: 2 rpm
Muzzle velocity: 2860 ft/s (865 m/s)
Range: No bloody idea how to estimate this.
(may change caliber to 380mm or 420mm should that receive more support)

Pigeon
What is it: Light scout helicopter, with pilot and enough space to carry 150 kg cargo, or one gunner with TP-1 machinegun, should use mix of wood and light alloys for the hull.
8 novice engineers and metallurgist

TX-1
What is it: Basic level torpedo
1 novice engineer  (we'll use more engineers to create more advanced, later.)

WASP
What is it: Torpedo boat, fast, lightly armored , armed with two twin T-1s (optimized for AA use) and 4 torpedo mountings, empty space for either depth charges or mine laying equipment. Capable to operate in both shalow waters and ocean
5 novice engineers

Such ship is deadly for landing crafts\ can offer AA protection for larger ships and may be used for mass attacks on larger ships

That's a bit spread out engineer wise, but we need all kinds of weapons, right?

Brood, your 200mm guns are useless against tanks. It's a heavy siege weapon for destroying bunkers, tanks are too nimble and will fire back at the crew killing it before they have a chance to fire, unless they fire from pillbox, but then they can be avoided.  TP-1s and LUPs can knock any tank that our enemy may have

And no to modular ship design, another bad idea, don't even want to expain why, Brood you are full of videogame logic

Do we want our shore batteries to be 280, 380, or 420?
I vote 420.

Mm, I'm ok with helicopter research so long as we start building a traditional AF as well next turn.

Also: don't forget to get our shipyards working. Put 1 destroyer, 1 cruiser and an AA prototype on the schedule for this year.

I'd prefer the 40mm deck gun to minelaying equipment myself, but other than that, ok ok you've convinced me, heli it is. +1 to all the above. (we can develop a PT series with a deck gun later)

By modular I only meant light weapons that are easy to remove and replace as we advance our weapon tech.
But either way we need a ship designer if not modular, we've got virtually no navy and nobody skilled to create a better one, a single ship designers is worth 2.5 normal engineers so it'd speed up making a battleship and a heavy cruiser a lot and my cannon is fine, explosive shells with chew infantry forces in entrenchments to pieces and a direct hit will blow a hole in a heavy tank as well, used from an elevated position when an enemy is landing it'll do massive damage.

We'd need more like 4 aa prototypes, a single one can not protect a fleet the enemy will just split it's airforce and attack from all sides, you need at least 4 to cover all sides.

I'm going to design a heavy cruiser and a battleship.

Heli I still a bad idea, know what'll happen if we send a heli up? It's going to get shot straight back down by AA and enemy planes, you do not use helicopters for air superiority, ever.
They are a support craft, planes rule the skies the choppers are there more for infantry support then for air to air combat, no chopper takes on planes and wins and our enemies already have a headstart on us for air forces.

Just so we're clear, we have 3 votes for UR, and none for anyone else's. So I'm guessing we are going with UR this turn

Can we add a ship designer in uni then? We're sending nobody to uni at all which is a waste of a year.

I'd rather have an aviation engineer

Meh either one works but airforce won't do us much good without a fleet other then for defense and defense can only last so long, we need a better fleet soon or we're just gonna get ground down in constant fights and for offense we need a fleet.

A ship engineer does make more sense from a tactical point of view.

Ships are effective for both offense and defense in this time period on there own.
Planes are effective in defense but for offense are very little use without a strong fleet to protect aircraft carriers otherwise the airforce will get shredded the moment you try to attack somebody with it.

I'd suggest doing a naval engineer this year so you can begin to counter the other nations naval superiority, counter the navy and the airforce looses a lot of it's power.

Airforce can be very good against a fleet, depending on how much AA they have.

Still, then we need airdropable torpedoes and the like.

Just so you know, Ukrainian Ranger, modern shipyards use modular shipbuilding techniques.

And by modular i mean the entire ship, not just weapons, are modular.

Modern shipbuilding manufacturing techniques

Modern shipbuilding makes considerable use of prefabricated sections. Entire multi-deck segments of the hull or superstructure will be built elsewhere in the yard, transported to the building dock or slipway, then lifted into place. This is known as "block construction". The most modern shipyards pre-install equipment, pipes, electrical cables, and any other components within the blocks, to minimize the effort needed to assemble or install components deep within the hull once it is welded together.

Ship design work, also called naval architecture, may be conducted using a ship model basin. Modern ships, since roughly 1940, have been produced almost exclusively of welded steel. Early welded steel ships used steels with inadequate fracture toughness, which resulted in some ships suffering catastrophic brittle fracture structural cracks (see problems of the Liberty ship). Since roughly 1950, specialized steels such as ABS Steels with good properties for ship construction have been used. Although it is commonly accepted that modern steel has eliminated brittle fracture in ships, some controversy still exists. Brittle fracture of modern vessels continues to occur from time to time because grade A and grade B steel of unknown toughness or fracture appearance transition temperature (FATT) in ships' side shells can be less than adequate for all ambient conditions.

Fair point, where as you already have ship weaponry so the engineer can be put to immediate use bringing the navy up to date where as the aviation engineer has limited use until more advanced weapons are designed for aerial use.

Kahn is correct as well, a modular ship is far simpler to modify and repair and also easier to produce.

Of the two choices I recommend having a modular ship designer or a naval designer trained this year and aerial next year, begin work on larger ship types while you design more advanced ship and aerial weaponry and train the aerial engineer for next year.

Both sides win and of the two the naval force does provide more uses.

Also, i would like to vote against choppers.

I would only want helicopters for casualty evac or transport of light goods and/or small numbers of troops.

Trying to use choppers for air superiority is ridiculous.
