Agreed.

Ok, I'm upgunning my naval cannon to 155mm, since it was brought to my attention I was vastly underestimating the size of naval guns in general.

Name:NVG-155
Workspace:10
Engineers:4+1 metallurgist
What it is: modernized 155mm naval cannon

This should make for a nice cruiser cannon, especially mounting in a double or triple turret

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Only if they can land them, sink the transport ships, shoot down the planes and they can't do a thing.
My gun would of worked on transport as well given it's rate of fire and area of effect would of made taking a transport out pretty easy to do.
Everything I design has multiple purposes in mind but I'm just gonna focus on ships and leave this to the rest of you and enjoy picking out all the flaws in the weapons designs for myself.

AIA cannon is crappy, IMO.  Nice siege gun and that's all. Tanks will laugh at it.

kahn1234, Multi role is what I dislike, it may work for a small caliber, but I'd prefer to have howitzer or dedicated AA gun.

tryrar, we have naval guns already

I really think my proposals are best, heavy coastal gun will help us in all future wars as all enemies will need to land at our  island, and helicopters can make our air-force unique and provide mobility for our land forces

And remember, we are designing weapons for the next wars, not this one...

I'd say we change the Heli with an airship.

Less fuel cost, longer range and larger loading capacity.

Why dont you go tell the Germans their 88mm was crappy?

Why dont you go tell modern tank commanders they should only take AT shells as the only thing tanks should fight is other tanks (the British made that mistake in WW2 and paid the price).

Multirole is far superior to specialised. Sometimes specialised can be superior, but a Multirole AA/AT gun is the way to go either for emplaced guns for defense or on mobile platforms as support platforms.

Hell, the British Commonwealth and Empire troops used the QE 3.7inch AA gun so much there were thousands made. if only they had thought of using thema s AT guns they could have held North Africa whilst aiding Greece, instead of getting pushed back to El Alamain and having to take Libya a second time.

And the defence of France would have gone much smoother as well.....

I'm with Kahn, multi role is far superior most of the time purely being it's flexible and choppers?
The first military chopper was in ww2 and porely armed besides, any helicopter we can build will be slow as hell, badly armored and porely armed.
It'd be a floating target.

Scelly it needs to be able to go into negative elevation to use on naval forces, it'd need high ground to have the range to hit them while there at a distance so it'll need to be able to aim down as well to then hit them as enemy ships close in.

Do you see a difference between 88m and 200mm ?

Tank gun is not multipurpose gun, it's a tank gun. And 97mm is an overkill, small steps guys, small steps. No army started with heavy tanks

That's why I proposed 40mm LUP we now have, 97mm is a different story altogether, That's a very heavy thing.

_____________
As for helicopter - WW2 helicopters were crappy because IRL they started to develop them way to late, should they started earlier, they'd have ones rivaling turboprop fighters
Should Sikorsky get funding earlier we could see very different air war.
And no to airship, that never worked in real life, even in WW1 they weren't really useful

Agreed. Unfortunately they're quite fragile, maneuverable compared to a plane, and highly flammable.

An Airship can soak normal bullets and missiles and still land intact, can hover and rise vertically, and is not flammable unless it's filled with hydrogen and shot at with incendiary bullets.

Ok then, how about we design a good FAC? Ton for ton, the fast attack craft of the US Navy were the best armed ships of the war.

Wasp Class FAC(Wasp класса Быстро катера)
Engineers:9+1 metallurgist
Workspace:10
What it is:Torpedo-armed small attack boat

Tonnage:200 tons
Speed:35 knots
Armament:6 foward torpedo tubes, 1 bow-mounted 40mm deck gun, 2 TP-1 machine guns
Armor:1/2'(12.7mm) metal hull plating below waterline, 1/4'(6.35mm) plating above waterline

TX-1(TX-1 Торпедо)
Engineers:5
Workspace:5
What it is:torpedo

max speed:30 knots
max range:1371 meters
power source:compressed air wet heater

This still leaves the engineers for your gun UR, which I'll support

Also, I'll agree to saying no to airships, they tended to be just too slow to be practical

Sure, Jet planes are superior to helos (not in all roles), turboprop biplanes? Not quite.
And helos have more uses... They offer very nice mobility, easier to use on ships and have utility value

Scelly, I like your gun, but forget "against tank part", Gun you are quoting is a heavy howitzer, they almost never  used against tanks.  ( howitzer and gun are quite different, howitzer is for ballistic fire , gun is for direct fire) Besides we have that 200mm gun for direct fire.

Will make my own design based on yours

Tryrar, we have no torpedoes, need to design some, first
