Smells like a possible defence mechanism. Hopefully Talli or the psychics can figure out a way to translate for us. They should have a fair bit of data about our mental processes. For the immediate term, I say we should throw our lot in with the Vanguard. Cooperate until the glowiness takes over and we kill everyone...

let us see where this goes, it could be ftagn Cthulu madness, or it could be some sort of divine runes of Baalshan evisceration. Remember, we are the weapon the Vanguard wanted. let us see they get it, those Baalshaan are demons, why not see if these angelic looking items cannot be of some use
stay alive, -1 to suicide, we ought to at least see this through and find out what it does, our backup systems may be compromised, and nobody wants a gameover

Question where did the last bit about being half alien come? Can't seem to find an answer besides the "glowing mystic/religious symbols" part.

Talli suggested it. It should be in one of the last two or three updates... Maybe try a search of the thread for "half human".

((Talli told you that it is extremely possible that the main character is most likely not human, which means that her daughters are half human)).

((Sorry for the delay. I know its a bit short, but i have been very tired recently due to all the studying i have had to do.

You got a mixture of dice in this one, that kept it interesting.

Enjoy!))

Grab something sharp and stab our abdomen! This disease won't win without our craziness making a scene.

The pain is unbearable, but you manage to clear your head long enough to grab for something, anything, you could stab yourself with. You decide that you can survive using your backup. Your body has been compromised. You find a standard medical kit tucked behind a monitoring machine of some type. You open it and find a small scalpel.

Unfortunately for you, the doctors seem to have seen what you were doing and called in some guards, who grab you as you try to stab yourself. They lift you up, barely due to your kicking and screaming, and carry you over to your bed, which you notice has restraints built into it. You manage to get your right arm free, slicing at a guard who dodges.

You slice the arm of another, but you see he starts healing immediately. This continues for the best part of thirty minutes before you tire enough and the pain becomes absolute. The guards, bloody, but no worse for wear, strap you into the bed as you writhe in pain, crying and screaming.

Eventually, after much fighting, the guards finally manage to strap you into the bed. They pull back as you writhe under the restraints, screaming, crying and cursing in an unknown language.

*

We could try to psychically attack the change somehow...

In a momentary state of lucidity, you try to use your psychic abilities to push back at the changes, to try and stifle the pain. You find it surprisingly easy to marshal your mental forces to attack the 'enemy'. However, the enemy's power is almost absolute. You attack anyway, trying to contain whatever it is that is in you, but you only experience minor success.

You push harder as the intrusion seems to respond to your attacks by increasing the pain and by forging forward as fast as possible. It takes all of your mental energy to just hold the thing back. You feel yourself tiring, mentally and physically, but you push on regardless.

The intrusion seems to change tact, aiming straight for your brain now. You brace your defenses, but you must be too tired from holding the previous onslaught back as the 'enemy' manages to smash your mental defenses as if they were made of paper. Your mind buckles under the onslaught. You feel your back arc as you let out a bestial howl that, coupled with your out of control mental abilities, rattles the walls and sends many a machine flying.

Your mind and body broken, you feel your body fall to the bed, limp. Your eyes half open gazing into nothingness. Your fingers twitch occasionally, marking the fact you are still alive. You find you have no control over your body. Worse yet, you are a spectator and you're forced to watch as the intrusion slowly takes over your mind.

Its coverage of your body complete, it seems to start the next stage of its infection.  This time there is no pain, just a very uncomfortable heat and a faint glow as your body goes into its final stage of transformation.

The last thing you realise before everything goes black is a very rapidly forming cocoon forming over you.

An unknown amount of time later, you awake. Instantly you feel smothered, and a strong need to be free. You shake your body and push hard at the hard shell above you. In one easy push you shatter the shell above you, sitting bolt upright, throwing up a strange fluid that seems to have filled your airways.

Once you finished coughing, you took in a deep breath of air. It is then you notice you have an audience. Outside your room, you see your old brood sisters, Kaleetra, your daughters and your new team as well as Ala-Shar, a large team of what you assume to be doctors and scientists, the Morey Matriarch and High General and even the commander of the Vanguard fleet, as well as a number of guards and troops.

You cough again, before trying to speak.

"I'm....cold....." You splutter between coughs. You see several smiles. Several of the doctors and scientists get into their hazmat suits and make their way through the air-lock type doorways to your room. One of them brings a nice, warm, thick blanket to you.

"You are a very lucky woman, Katia. Whatever it was almost killed you. We had been monitoring the cocoon, and your vitals as you screams and thrashed about. Your body was a mess....." He ended, grimly.

"How....long was I out.....?" You ask.

"Almost a week. We are now in the Morey's home system and have been for the past five days." The scientist responds.

"What has changed?" You ask.

At that, another suited visitor speaks.

"Whilst the changes are rather subtle, you have maintained the interesting assets you had when you arrived in this ward. In addition, you seem to have developed a number of interesting improvements to your brain, especially in the areas that deal with psychic abilities. As far as we can tell, your changes stop there. There is a possibility that you are still changing, but we are not certain.

We are, however, pretty sure this has nothing to do with the Balshaan....." He trails off, deep in thought.

You snuggle into the blanket, letting the Doctors do their tests and checks. You watch your friends and acquaintances, smiling and waving to them. Seemingly pleased that you are OK, the vast majority of your audience dissipates.

Despite sleeping for almost a week, you suddenly feel tired again. Unable to control your body, again, you fall backwards onto your bed, and fall soundly asleep.

*

A strange dream forms, similar to the experience all those years ago when you first met Ala-Shar. A dozen feet in front of you stands a figure.

What do you do?
