What is the sitrep for the space battle happening above the planet and the battles happening around it? If the vanguard won we should just give up and not waste lives to a war already lost.

____________________

Two important question is the base set up like this https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6c/Fortbourtange.jpg? Also, how strong is the outer walls and will it last against vanguard weaponry? Are we still good for rations, water, and ammunition?

Strategies

Falling back

1. Enemies have to be funneled or at least waste time and energy by having go over the walls or blast through doors
2. Their vehicles are pretty much useless due to not being able to fit into the hallways.

Staying put

1.This all depends if the outer walls hold.

Strategies

Yes lets start calling for reinforcements, fall backing to the inner wall if the Vangaurd get to close.

Is there any thing we can burn in the outer walls?

Point taken let's have someone have an open communication to space and on earth asking for help against the Vanguard assault. It doesn't matter if the Vanguard hear this since they already know this is going on...

Also i kinda don't want the Vanguard to feel ultra superior against their new "Morey" foe so i believe a win here should earn us some breathing room later because i know from clue's they only fight easy battles. Maybe their not as numerous as the Slinkarr or just can't afford losses but it's a fact.

Also Funk they have armour {possibly tanks} so bunching up and getting blown up by shrapnel is a big possible effect from bunching up like that.

Also Jaas i beleive we only have one layer of wall and then facilites inside oh and through our efforts there are traps/mines outside our complex that's all.

Let them think their selves superior because there has been many wars that have been lost due to this. What is a fact is that we don't even know our traps will be effective specially explosives against their vehicles since our most powerful bomb did even punch through personal armour and shields. What we need to get from this battle is can our weapons even penetrate any of personal armour and shields. If we can't we are pretty much just in a shooting gallery for the Vanguard.

Good point but remember those were top secret elite soldiers {i'm thinking their the X-com/green beret's of the Vanguard}. If the Tanks can't be harmed hopefully the shrapnel will hurt enough ground troops to suspend further pushing. Plus remember we also have pit traps made for said infantry. We have to rack up a body count and our escape routes are HOPEFULLY still secure and ready for use should the vanguard assault be too heavy for us.

Still let's do the above plan and make sure to {either us personally or a communication brood member} contact openly for help.

You know what they are going to use the tanks for? Mine field clearers then all they have to do is have the infantry follow these tanks. Either way I doubt we are going to hold this base for long if those explosives can't damage Vanguard armored vehicles.

If they can't {and hopefully our snipers will see and report this} then a simple withdraw in a orderly fashion out of here as we blow the data banks to hell. Honestly if we can't hold it scorch the earth planet.

I'm optimistic though that they WILL do the damage. By the way GM do we have RPG weaponry for said tanks? if said have those weapons spread out to different parts so they can be everywhere those tanks can be.

I do not expect to hold the walls, but we should try to harass them as much as possible. Defend the walls but withdraw once they hit out traps, which will hopefully buy enough time to keep the withdrawal orderly. Or if they start demolishing the walls...

Or we could try rushing them, the variance in melee weapons is probably less than ranged weapons, and it would make numbers more difficult to apply...

If we plan on hand to hand lets do it in the buildings and with a smoke screen to cover us.

We do have reinforcements on the way. Not that there is any reason to believe that they will be able to damage the enemy capital ships...

3045th Planetary Assault Guard Brigade, these guys are probably decked out in close to mid-range combat besides we don't have any melee weapons, closest we got is a shotgun.

What about the knife we had right on hand that we used to torture the slinkar chick?  (who surprisingly didnt seem to mind being tortured too much apparantly)

I got the impression from that that we have combat knives.

Not that I'm condoning melee combat, that is retarded.  If our guns don't work then I hardly see how trying to stab through their armor would work better.

Correct but i can't in good conscience go into a knife fight when the other side has guns. Their going to come in HARD for sure but we need to make sure to shake them that exact moment, which is why i said to put snipers on the walls and blow the heads of squad leaders {or failing to identify any to just discharge into them}.

As for rushing forward we have at LEAST 1117 troops between us and Ari's Broods plus w.e 50% of ankara has left and they have 2k. If anything i believe we should get 20 infiltrators to try and get behind them...but that's very dangerous and i'm not sure exactly how much it could accomplish besides look for leadership/communicators to assassinate.

Actually they have probes for communication too so that probably won't work except maybe inspire a bit of fear into them. Plus the fact that Brigadier Xander is a veteran so his guys are most likely veterans also. sorry for the point and counterpoint and thank you GM for answering this in time.

Explanation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_syndrome although Slinkar psychology might be different. It probably also helps we broke to stereotypes to a faction we represent.

Oh right, that thing.  Still something that surprises me, but true that it can happen.
