In the American Military system a Brigandier is one notch higher than a colonel. They are the very first general rank {or first star as some call it}.

Not sure on what powers they might be granted however, but yes lets try some negotiations and what i said above. We may need to start racking up a body count in order to scare them off though..

He may well be in overall control of the entire group of ships, its not as if its some major fleet of theirs.

when Elliana complains of this, give her a speech(away from the diplomacy) that the morey are the true monsters, for if it wasn't for them, your sisters and you would be living happy lives on earth, not on this hellhole, with half of your brood dead, and the survivors not much better, as slaves being constantly mindraped into being expendable peons for a race of assholes in a bunch of wars of their own making

Wouldn't he have a naval rank then?

Not necessarily, if their space forces did something other than become a branch of an organization that floats armed boats on water.

Brigandier must at the very least make him in charge of ground forces. We have to negotiate what ever we can to not be destroyed. If he wants the base make it clear were not going to give it up without a fight. Hence playing mind games like that lullaby. Don't ask me why but i'm in a Joker {from batman} mood these days.

What if they are like Star Trek and everyone is an officer? Maybe they need a four star general just to read the interstellar mail...

((In this update you received a series of unfortunate rolls. May your god have mercy on your brood.))

Well, withdrawal is not really an option and we have no prisoners to give up that they would be interested in.
Can we offer than data from the HQ's databanks? Or would that piss off the Morey brass?

You realise that withdrawal is most certainly not an option. And you do not want to give up your only prisoner, someone who could help you in so many ways.

You consider offering up the databanks, however you realise that the Morey told you to protect this facility and its information, so you deduce that giving the information away would make the Morey pretty angry.

You shudder to think what the Presidentess would do to you.....

**

The Prisoner? or

"We see what your doing with the Slinkarr and our prisoner tells us that she's baffled as to why your fighting here?"

If nothing works spook him a bit.

"Okay but one more thing i'd like to sing you a lullaby like i told my kids before i was abducted:

Twinkle Twinkle little star how i wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a Diamond in the sky

How i wonder if heaven be true
Next time won't you sing to me?
*small laugh* "

You get back on the radio with the Vanguard commander.

"First, if you will allow me, could i ask you a few questions? We see what you are doing to the Slinkar in the Spaceport, fighting hard, but I would like to know why? Our Slinkar prisoner tells us that the Slinkar are baffled as to why you are here. I must say, the Morey hold the same position."

After a short pause, you hear the commanders voice.

"You want answers? This is unusual, to say the least. However, i am not at liberty to discuss top secret plans with the enemy, even if said enemy is going to end up dead or captured anyway."

A bit put out, you stammer. The commander interrupts you.

"Is that all? What is your offer? I haven't got all day."

You realise you pretty much screwed up that verbal exchange. Your inexperience with your rediscovered mother tongue is showing. Embarrassed, you put the notion of trying to disturb the commander to the back of your mind. Someone as gruff and serious as this man is not going to be unnerved.

**

flatter him, he sounds pompous enough. Say that we are not diplomats, but that we will connect him to our diplomats if he lets us open communications (ask alashar who to contact and tell herthe news). We both want something, you do not want more war than necessary, and we really would prefer not to be massacred by your legendarily strong armies. Ask them to take pity on us unfortunate once-human slaves formed by the more Jerkass government elements, who of course we will not connect them to, instead we will take them to the more logical elements (alashar's recommendations, stress one wrong move will get us killed.

-1 he's a soldier with possible orders and i doubt the brass is going to be given diplomatic powers to negotiate for us. All we can do is get a bit of info, look scary, break assualts, and make it meaningless to continue to attack us due to large losses for nothing. I have a feeling they didn't come to finsih a war...but something else.

Thinking quickly, your mind latches onto the idea of trying to flatter him. However you quickly discount this idea as the man most likely has orders and, judging by how serious he seems, he will follow those orders no matter what. You also think this mans obvious veterancy will make him immune to any possible psychological or verbal manipulation.

Also, even though you seem to remember from Earth that a Brigadier is fairly high up in the military command chain, you doubt Brigadier Berginstaff has the authority to enter into diplomatic negotiations that could affect two large galactic powers.

You come to the conclusion that the only way you can take this is by trying to get as much info as possible, although it seems that chance has passed due to your earlier verbal screw up or you can try to look as scary as possible, which is going to be hard due to the fact that the Vanguard troops are no doubt in some ways superior to yours.

You close your eyes and think. You dont like your last option. Stand and fight.

"Brigadier Berginstaff, I have changed my mind. There will be no negotiations. If you want this facility, try and take it."

Even from your end of the line, he sounds a bit surprised. Then he laughs.

"I must say, i was not expecting that. I am not sure whether you are stupid or brave, regardless i salute your dedication to your cause. But know this, outside your walls now is the 3045th Planetary Assault Guard Brigade, numbering three thousand men, with the 1023rd Light Armour Regiment attached. We hope you are ready for a fight."

You gulp. That means, outside your walls now there are at the very least four thousand Vanguard troops.

Mustering your courage, you return one last line.

"The Brood is always ready." You end the line, physically shaking with nerves.

**

Do get the diplomats on phone , if they want to talk then there diplomats will.

Our best diplomat is the Presidentee's herself and her fleet from what we know is not here.

BTW since we have a shuttle i want to give an order to our troops to prepare to get our prisoner ready to be transported ASAP if things get bad quick.

basically: "The Vanguard are overpowering us, luckily the prisoner {and what's left of your brood} make it into the shutte that wasn't harmed during the battle and is now flying off." Just as a precaution of course.

Thinking fast, you order all wounded unable to fight, as well as your prisoner Kaleetra, onto one of the shuttles for immediate dispatch. You tell your sisters that time is of the essence and that the Vanguard will be attacking any time now.

Things spring into action. The wounded are loaded up, however Kaleetra refuses to leave, insisting that she could be useful against the Vanguard.

"I can be of use to you! My armour is tough, my armament powerful. You will need every warrior you can get. Allow me to help!"

You, reluctantly, accept her help. She is right, after all. You are heavily outnumbered. You do need all the firepower you can get.

**

You watch as the shuttle carrying your wounded powers up and leaves the ground. It gains altitude until it is but a speck in the sky, before it fires away at high speed. You feel safe in the knowledge that at least some of your sisters in arms got away, even if it was only a small percentage of the two (and a half) broods.

Just then, the noise of weapons fire erupts from the direction facing the Spaceport.

You get hailed on the Battle Net.

"Commander! We have Vanguard troops attacking our position! We predict at least two thousand troops...." *BANG* *BOOM* "....and a significant number of light armoured vehicles! What are your orders? We still have time to pull back to a more secure position!"

****

What are your orders?

Do you try and hold the outer wall against such a force? or d you pull back and consolidate your forces on the inner most wall, hopefully creating an impenetrable barrier?

Light armor sounds like tanks could be a thing..Bunching up in a center or building would be catastrophic but let's try to take them out if possible. Hope those traps/landmines put in some work.

Let's hold the outer walls and bloody their noses up with snipers and any other assault weapons.

A small reserve team should be at the bottleneck to hold off the enemy should they try to blitz through with shotguns and heavy machine guns. These guys are to stay behind floor covers and if the wall forces are to have to retreat/withdraw they'll be their to provide cover for said retreat. When wall teams get off the wall and into the center of the base they are to hold and provide cover for the reserves so they may withdraw. Once that's happened our last stand is the center of the base.

AT NO POINT SHOULD ANY OF OUR ROCKETS BE FIRED UNLESS IT'S AT THE LIGHT ARMOR. Were going to need those and our supply is most likely limited.

all of this is to be sent via B-NET to get our Brood into position.

We took out 4k Moorey special troops we can take on the Vangaurd reserves guys lets do THIS!

We have the best of morey tech, but it will be muskets versus AKs against the vanguard. I would advise that if our objective is in the inner walls that we retreat to there, and attempt to call for reinforcements, as we are outnumbered by a superior force.

Yes lets start calling for reinforcements, fall backing to the inner wall if the Vangaurd get to close.

Is there any thing we can burn in the outer walls?
