Is it just me or are the Morey putting way to much resources in capturing this tiny system. To be honest they should just cut their losses pickup the stranded troops and bugger out. Anyways, now with the debris field we can easily get to the planet by using the dead ships as cover or to hide in.

((There may or may not be something important in this system.

If the system was so unimportant, why are the Vanguard here?

By the way, been busy yesterday and today with jobsearching, among other things. Update will be tomorrow.))

Well, we should stick to the spaceport plan unless we have to. We still have a chance to pull this off without Vanguard interference.

Does the spaceport have guns we can fire on the vanguard ships with?  (sorry im too lazy to dig back for that)

((Both the AAA and the surface-to-orbit weapons for the Spaceport and former HQ are intact. However, the only anti-orbit weapons that could do any damage to the Vanguard are at the HQ, although the Spaceports ones are not insubstantial.

The Defenses that are offline are the ground facing ones.))

They have orbiting AAA guns? why haven't they been shot down yet?

Well that just makes me want to plug the Bravo like Vanguard WHEN we take our HQ back and re-activate those guns.

P.S good hunting :D

((The AAA is not in orbit, it is secured to platforms planetside, as part of the Spaceport and HQ complexes. These facilities were built in this system when there was heavy fighting between the Morey and the Slinkar, so there are plenty of Anti-Orbit, anti-air and anti-vehicle emplacements built into the complexes.

Just put together a quick template of ideas and comments since the last update. Will work on next update tomorrow morning.))

I'm such an itiot  :(

But now the pictures clearer. We need that base if we want any chance to permanently occupy this planet and not risk a lengthy {and costly} guerrilla war.

Yup, unless this is a vanguard smash and grab (it may well be) then we have no chance of long term survival without the HQ.

e:  I initially assumed the vanguard was just here to cull the local vermin before getting back to the real problems.  If there is something of note here that would explain a lot.

If there was why sent so much troops down? When you could just send just a elite bunch of maybe 20 soldiers to grab what ever they need.

____

What would be helpful now is to get the troop positions of vanguard forces, that way we can modify the original plan.

Not if they want something big.  Though you are right actually, that is more or less what it would look like in most cases.

What would be helpful now is to get the troop positions of vanguard forces, that way we can modify the original plan.

This.  Also if anyone knows the possible motivations of the vanguard.

The vanguard have only just arrived, with a smaller feet than either the Morey or the Slinkar, and our best information suggests that the forces which overpowered an entire brood, in confined quarters, with the advantage of surprise, are in very limited supply. It is entirely possible that with superior numbers and/or circumstances we could engage the Vanguard in an effective manner. The small size of their fleet suggests that they are unable to populate the entire system in an expedient fashion so provided that we do not share a major objective it is highly unlikely that significant vanguard force will be encountered. The Slinkar are likely converging on the Vanguard or reinforcing their positions. In some sense we already are a guerrilla force, a relatively small group deployed against a very specific target. As far as the Vanguard are concerned, wither they are there in force, in which case we do not have much in the way of effective measures, or we can actually fight them at the moment, but likely won't be able to soon as they will probably be reinforcing their positions or departing with relative haste. If the Vanguard proceed at their current pace, it would seem dubious to assume that we have a full week before they effectively control the system...

Their i bet elite soldiers are in short supply (6to 28 for arguments sake) and another 30k of infantry, marines, and the death something's that use to be their most politely known soldiers.

I believe reinforcements for the vanguard are incoming but yes hopefully
We don't share objectives.

((Due to the fact that i have a banging headache and have been busy all day with job related chores (again) , the update will most likely be tomorrow. However, i will give a little info dump on what you know about the Vanguard troop types so far.

There have been several ones mentioned so far.

First are the mysterious Warfighters. You dont know anything about them, however you know of at least one person who has some inkling as to who and what they are. You dont know how many of them the Vanguard has, you dont know anything about their equipment, tactics, strategies or temperament. All you know is that they have stricken fear into the hearts of at least one Morey.

Next, the Shock Troops who double as space marines (SPEHS MEHREENS! FOR THE EMPRAH!.....Sorry). These guys are very tough, skilled and well armed and armoured. You dont know much about their weapons or armour, apart from the fact they are very high tech. You might want to avoid these guys whenever possible.

Lastly, the last known type of troops the Vanguard will be fielding in this system is their standard Troopers, who double as Orbital Strike forces as well. these guys, I will tell you just to be nice, have high tech armour and weapons, although roughly about the same level as you, just more sleek, functional, efficient etc. They are highly skilled, as all Vanguard troops are, and deadly. Do not underestimate them.

They, however, lack certain characteristics of their bigger, badder colleagues.....(all will become clear later on. I'm not gonna give everything away.....)))

You haven't really covered the fact that they will want control of the anti-orbit defenses if they can find them.
