Poke the strange floor with the sword.

The FLOOR makes a "TINK" sound. You notice no change in its appearance.

Attempt to magically clean wound. Then magically heal wound if that doesn't take too much mana.

->

You HEAL YOUR WOUNDS. This puts only a slight dent in your MANA POOL, which is still overfilled from the MANA POTION.
You also cleanse and repair your ROBES. A GLORIOUS WIZARD shouldn't be adventuring around with soiled ROBES.

Browse the dark tome. It can't hurt to take one little peek, right?

The TOME OF DARK MAGIC is written almost exclusively in a language you cannot read, and what you can read is way above your magical understanding. You do pick up some general theory on both DEMON SUMMONING and ENCHANTING, though.
There is also an incredibly detailed chapter on how to build windows. You cannot fathom why it is there, but you enjoy it.

Well, nothing else to do here. You're all magic'd up and healed, might as well move on.

You enter a LARGE ROOM with MANY SKULLS. There is a KNOLLBOSS here.

Use Magic to make the Gnollboss less hostile. If we can't do that, make it less intelligent. Like, puppy-level intelligent. Burn out its brain until we have a puppy-like gnoll.

Squishy: Turn into the fighter guild dork from the entrance and murder the Gnollboss while he is laughing at your masters likely pathetic attempts to magically castrate him.

Ask the Knoll-BOSS if he has any job openings.

Yes, let's learn how much mana brain-scrambling takes.

Wait, who's castrating him?
Lobotomizing, sure, but castrating?

Figuratively speaking.

Why would you figuratively castrate someone when you can literally lobotomize them?

Well, one makes them brain dead and the other makes them suffer millenia long psychological trauma and leaves them with what they think is an illusion of their own severed penis just floppin' about three feet to the left at all times.

I'm not objecting to making someone believe that the ghost of their dismembered member is floating along beside them for thousands of years, but where are we going to find someone that lives that long?

->

It seems that the GNOLLBOSS has a natural MAGIC RESISTANCE, which your MANA cannot penetrate. A less direct magical attack would work better, such as fire or lightning.

Ask the Knoll-BOSS if he has any job openings.

You ask him if he has any employment opportunities.
He says that a spot just opened up, as the contents of his stomach.
