Generating an Island Chain world
« on: April 18, 2013, 09:14:45 pm »

Basically, I want a world that looks like Indonesia, except more dense-lots of little islands I can connect with bridges.

How do?

Not sure if it's possible to get really ideal results, but with a smallish island region, null out all the 'minimum required tiles' entries and put x and y variances to 3200.

You get sort of a squared off formation of islands.

You might mess with the max elevation setting or setting minimum for 'low elevation' tiles to try and get more of the effect you are looking for.

Generating lots of small islands or chains of them isn't too hard, but connecting them with bridges?  I'm not sure how that could be accomplished.

Might be interesting if you could get an embark that had a bunch of small islands. That would be alot harder to control I figure.

This is an exceptional obsidian statue of Daral Darkscab.
The item is an exceptionally designed image of Daral Darkscab the dwarf and a slag bar (massive) in obsidian by Ksoth Lolorumril. Daral Darkscab is raising the slag bar (massive). The artwork relates to the masterful slag bar (massive) created by the dwarf Daral Darkscab for the Corridor of Matyrs at Monstergores in the late spring of 312.

I'm so glad my masons have chosen to memorialize the really important events.

You can get landmasses close enough together that you can bridge them with one embark. Neat part is, it connects the two landmasses for trade and invasion.

Although any embark will do that, don't have to physically bridge them. Also digging out a 'chunnel' will cause it to flood if the fort is abandoned.

Didn't someone make a tool where you can effectively 'draw' maps?
I know very little of it, but it must be here somewhere.
The idea was you saved an image of a certain format, and it interpreted different shades as different heights.
That way you could import an image of indonesia to try that out, and make any improvements for the second attempt.
