I know at least some people can't play this game with keyboard even with rebinding the keys.

I am not used to jump being sandwiched and for a game to actually require a four finger spread. Your layout seems far superior to the games though.

I am pretty friggin' geeked for the full version of this. Doing a playthrough on Der Yütube, to document the experience.

...so excited!

Eh, I rebinded the keys too; It just makes way more sense to do ASD, and get the jump key on space so it's out of the way.

The jump key actually does start bound to space I am almost 100% sure. It's just the magic key that is a issue.

Heck the fact that being "fabulously gay" is apparently a birth defect (at least according to the game) makes me wonder if this family is just cursed.

Weighing in on the gay thing because people keep commenting on it- I don't think it's intended to be read as a defect. Plenty of the other attributes aren't defects.

I only know three that aren't (TECHNICALLY).

As far as I know, word of god says that is not true, they are just traits. Not disabilities. Positive. Neutral. Negative. Not disabilities or defects, just traits.

Which is odd, the frequency they happen I'd honestly would think there is a curse involved (and the fact that the only positive ones are just coincidently positive and would cause real problems outside of gameplay mechanics)

I also find it funny that even though you can generate as gay you are still willing to impregnate someone (or yourself) before you do the suicide mission.

I mean I can think of quite a few genetics that are genuine positive abilities. Yet only three are not outright negative (Being fabulously gay in this time period would be negative)

JIC: I call it fabulously gay because the description says so.

It's not just one unbroken line of father to son mother to daughter. It appears to be a whole family. Possibly more so.

I always assumed since there is a straight line.

Also oddly enough I checked the cards of my characters and one of the Scoundrals had a 2/0

DANG IT Rogue Legacy! My creature would die as soon as it came out.

I figured that it was a straight line down the family tree too... and, in the case of the 'Gay' trait, you still ended up marrying somebody of the opposite gender due to societal demands of the time and, probably more importantly, to ensure an heir to continue the family tradition of the mid-life suicide.

During the end cutscene, you're shown married with someone of the same gender if you were gay.

I like how some people are assuming that social standards of our world still apply in a fantasy world where you could potentially have female fighters (historically unlikely) casting magic in a randomly-shifting evil castle.

Also, I'm going with the "entire family" explanation rather than a straight series of descendents. After all, you have several people to choose from to be your heir each generation. I'm guessing the other two continue the lineage while the chosen heir holds off on marrying until he/she is victorious.

That is because Strawman feminism exists in fantasy.

That and being gay in Rogue Legacy forces you to be fabulous... and no one should be forced to be fabulous.

I love this game. It has simple, rewarding grind that I can play while relaxing. I quickly got used to the keybindings, and have not even tried it on my controller (I  don't like controllers for platformers).  I definitely think the game is worth the $15, if nothing else, because I like the developers and respect them for making this game.

In response to a comment of "This game can be finished in an hour without the artificial difficulty"... well, Dark Souls is only about one and a half hours long if you just go for completion and know the game. I just saw a video on YouTube for Mario 64 being beaten in under 1 hour while bypassing all the stars (which are grind, AFAIK). That doesn't make either of those bad. Same here - I enjoy the platforming, the rooms and the bosses. The random characters are a bonus, and after a certain gear/skill level, the upgrades are just the icing on the cake.

Aside on classes, I feel the Paladin is the best by far. Good stats, good damage, and the block ability can get you out of a pickle. I run an almost full vampire set, plus two balance runes, to get 10hp/2 mana per kill and can go quite far. Lots of fun. Shinobi damage/LOG TECHNIQUE is fun, Barb health is fun. I haven't found the magic classes to be nearly as good as I feel all magic is situational.

Also, this game makes for extremely entertaining YouTube videos :D
