Speak for yourself. It's not super deep, but I'm enjoying it nonetheless- killing the Castle boss for the first time felt very satisfying to me. Although, it is a little frustrating that by the midgame you have to make 1500+ gold per run in order to buy anything meaningful. The game would feel a lot less frustrating if Charon's fee was, say, 75% of your gold, upgradable to 50%.

I haven't actually played since my last post. But lately I have found that I consistently get about 10k per run. Give or take a few k. So I think once you get up there and really start running for money it becomes a non issue.

I feel the key is definitely life steal though. It won't get you past bosses (except the second boss... And maybe the fourth, more testing needed.) But it really makes it easier.

I've also found that making a bee line for the tower is my best bet, because that means I grind there, then drop down the castle when my health falls to low, then go back up to finish the tower and move onto the forest.

When you complete the game the first time you start doing Legacy + runs, which is where the castle is much harder and you have a natural 50% bonus to gold.

I finished the game on Legacy + and found out that after that you get Legacy +2 where you have a natural 100% bonus to gold (I'm starting to sense a pattern here).

With 250% gold from all drops and the much larger gold drops from the higher level enemies, it's really easy to get massive amounts of gold.

Maxing out the manor upgrades is starting to seem very easy at this point.

There is a period around when you first beat the castle boss where it's hard to make enough money to be able to do anything.  Once you're able to consistently clear the forest it gets much easier, and the Tower can easily get you 5k+ on its own.

We know.

I just beat it.  Third boss went down to a fire shield spellsword (fire shield spellsword is pure cheese by the way, if you get one don't waste him), fourth died a few minutes later to a paladin who just spammed scythe until she ran out of mana and then ran back and forth swinging as fast as she could, easy boss.

Final boss I used a Giant spellsword with dagger.  I think spellsword is the best overall class depending on what spell you can get, though some situations and bosses crowblaster lich is better.

I picked up a grace rune in one of the latest episodes I've recorded of this. However I don't fully understand how monsters scale up in the first place, so as to properly appreciate how the rune would help me.

Could anyone fill me in on the mechanics behind monster scaling, that you've noticed?

Monsters seems to have stats linked to their level, monster levels start increasing even inside the same areas, you could start the castle 1 hiting some mobs and after compleating a few rooms you would find you cant 1 hit them anymore, i would imagine every one of the 4 areas has a "starting" mob level, and it gets harder and harder the farthest (is that a word) you get from the entrance point to that area.

I tried the demo (yeah this game has a demo) and so far...

I've noticed that I picked heros not based on who I would like to play but more on who is the least annoying. I swear this family has the worst genes in history!

Heck the fact that being "fabulously gay" is apparently a birth defect (at least according to the game) makes me wonder if this family is just cursed.

I am not a big fan of the blood letting aspect of the game. I am aware that it is intentional and even the controls and character size are set up so you take a hit or two (Dwarfism to the rescue!).

The WORST is Stereovision or whatever it is called. It is funny for a second and the rest of the time it is actually not only annoying but hard on your eyes.

Which honestly... I do wonder if people do find the game funny. To me the game is a lot less funny then it thinks it is. Yet to others I can see them going

"IBS? HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA HA HA HA HE FARTED HA HA HA HA HA"
"Gay? HA HA HA HA!!! He is fabulously gay!"

So I don't know what to think. It could be intentionally bad humor to make the game cheesy, which is possible. Or the humor could just be more funny then I think it is.

I don't find the game funny. But I do sorta disagree with what I think you are calling 'bloodletting'. One of the things that has most impressed me, although it doesn't really make the game better or worse on its own, is how all the levels and enemies seem set up to just barely miss you and be able to just barely be hit by you.

I mostly just don't like that aspect, it is more a taste deal rather then something I can hold against the game.

I REALLY don't have the hang of the controls though, I also find the presets to be pretty bad for how I use the keyboard... Q and E to jump... S to jump and A for the class power.

It is like it wants me to use a controller (and due to the fact that I don't have a USB extender, I cannot really use one).

I switched spell to S and turned on the auto drop option. Seems to be working fine then. Hold my fingers as such:

Left hand: Ring on A to cast class powers, middle on S to cast spells, index on D to attack, and thumb on space to jump.

Right hand: Arrow keys.

Obviously, your millage may vary, but I am having absolutely zero issues like this. But to be fair, you really shouldn't buy this game unless you know you will be comfortable with the keyboard or you have controller.

Because you changed the controls you silly person :P

And I have only been playing for an hour (or however long 8 lives take you). While I do think the default layout is weird though.

I know at least some people can't play this game with keyboard even with rebinding the keys.
