Another gameplay video, but this guy's kind of boring compared to NL. He just has a different, slower playstyle.

RPS first impressions: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/05/09/hands-on-rogue-legacy/#more-152136

They are unabashed fans of the game, they say it's a total win.

Quote from: John Walker
I’ve played less than a quarter of what the game will eventually offer, bleeding it dry of its treats and secrets, and yet I keep playing. It has the compulsivity, it has twenty buckets of unlockables, and perhaps most importantly, the platform game inside it all is great fun to play. This should be big.

So it combines the vast amount of options from Binding of Isaac with the entertaining platforming and a meta-game that makes dying ok. You can preorder the game from here. No idea when/if it's going to show up on other digital distribution platforms.

Their best guess for a release is late June to mid-July. No word on if there will be a beta before then.

YES!

EDIT: Too slow on old lappy. Gonna have to bust out my half-dead new laptop.

EDIT2: This is incredibly poorly optimized. A 2D game on low resolution at fullscreen should not run slower than Borderlands.

Have you read the readme? The game has some problems with some video cards. Let me quote it:
Quote from: Readme
NOTE: There is a known bug with certain video cards where the game will inexplicably slowdown while it is being run in fullscreen.  If you are experiencing this problem, please play in windowed mode for the time being.

I'm playing in windowed mode, so no problems on my side. About the game/demo, I like it a lot. Some awesome ideas there, and it's really addictive, as you unlock at least one feature/item/something per run, even for the shortest ones. I will surely pre-order it. :)

Yep, read it, tried everything. Windowed mode actually runs worse. Poorly optimized. I send in my specs like they asked.

On the game side: this has something I really appreciate about action/platforming games. A huge focus on platforming skill. You're not getting anywhere in Rogue Legacy without being good at this type of game. Timing is more important than the most powerful upgrades. Can't wait until I get more Vampire runes, though, because staring at the boss door with 60HP is terrifying.

Anyone have any comments on the controls? I find them a bit difficult to get used to, to be honest. Is anyone playing with the keyboard, or do you have gaming pads?

I played the pre-order version of the demo (Ver. 1.0.0 Demo), and that ran perfectly fine, went to the most recent version of the demo and it does not run as well, which is weird. Also, in regards to the controls with keyboard, well I was able to beat the Ver 1.0.0 demo with just the keyboard so I'd say it works, but I usually prefer keyboard almost any day.

Edit: Since it hasn't been mentioned by the looks of it, RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED: June 27th, 2013

I was using the keyboard and found the controls to be merely okay. Playing it reminded me of much older games like Ghouls and Ghosts. It might hit the nostalgia button for some, but in my case I feel that platformers have come a long way in terms of controls and I'd rather stay away from things that feel "old school".
