Two things:
First:
Code: [Select]
Somehow these rites destroyed our pub, I am not sure what happened (it exploded? with music?) That is a autosyndrome bug. I will see to get it fixed. EDIT: Have it fixed in my mod version, will be in the next release.

Second: The loincloth blocked a hit to the torso?  ??? I might have to look at the armor tags it has. Because that sounds a bit odd.

Otherwise nice write up. Glad to see that the kobolds survive, with a water dragon pet no less. You should definetly armor your ogres though and put them on guard.

I think it is obvious that she was flashing the gnoll to show how few fucks she gave about it's attack.

As for the pub exploding, I guess I forgot to make it out of fireproof materials.  Try rebuilding it with clay or metal barrels and instruments.  Otherwise the music just gets so hot that the wooden barrels of booze catch fire.

*edit* Also, I am jealous that you got ogres.

Ah...so that is what did it, I wondered if it was a bug or a feature (maybe the kobolds loved the jig so much they smashed the bar up

I haven't had the heart to test the ogres in battle yet. In hidsight I probably should have sent them out to smash some antmen.  We had a failed artifact and made an artifact iron skirt, hatched a baby shalswar and three eggs are being hatched as we speak. I really hope that dragon doesn't flip out mid training after being released and kill everyone, although it would be a badass way to go.  Also I've captured nymphs.  I'll finish out the year in the next day or two and do the write-up, I just want to wrap up a little minimega project, and a siege from below derailed my plans.

Also rip Deep Blue, again, you have been rebolded a third time.

Sorry about the delay: after 6-7 tries and crashes at it (right mouse button), and getting distracted by a few other games, I'm done with the year:
_____________________________________________________________________________________

The tribe greeted midsummer with rejoicing. We were fed, we were rich, we had rusty iron machetes. Life was good. I gathered all the Bronze Rusts, to explore the gnoll cave.

The Bronze rusts and I were four, and four of us went down into the dark.

The way was long and winding and smelly. After a while, the bones of mighty beings, still soaked in blood, began to appear.
By the looks of it they were smashed to death. Likely by an animate statue. Perhaps the one running around on the surface. Or perhaps another one.
We marveled at the first few skeletons, but soon lost interest for there were very many.

Finally it grew on us that the gnolls held no regular old cave but a proper cavern. So we cheered and jumped and rattled our machetes! Then we feared greatly for our shouting and joy gave us away to the horrors that surely hid all around us in the dark. We scouted it fast, for we heard things stirring. The whining of gears told us another of the hated statues was nearby. The odd screams and sounds of bronze pounding on flesh told us it had met a tribe of deep beast folk.  We did see a nice plateau, just to the south of the path that lead back to the sunlit world.

We made it back, bringing bones and rocks for feasting and bragging. Just then a kobold caravan pulled over the horizons, and our cousins traded, and marveled and brought us much stolen metal and booze while we gave them food and bullets and everything else good that our tribe had made. We bragged to them about our cavern find and showed them the skull of a cave crocodile we looted.

We didn't know yet that our trespass did not go unnoticed. They came from the cavern

As the Hivemen swarmed up the caves, we rallied in the court yard.  I ordered our drakes and mastiffs leashed by the gate. Imp brought the ogres from the ogre cave and told them to watch for anything with too many arms. Sir Blue, and the our slingers and bola throwers climbed up to the roof, where I had been building a great sacrificial firepit.

Almost as soon as the slingers gathered, the hivemen burst into the sunlight and scurried forward. They carried rusty iron tridents and wore multiple iron bracers on their many arms. Their leader, a larger light-blue creature carried a rusty iron scimitar. I wondered if they gathered these odd weapons from foolish adventurers who had entered the caverns and lost their way, never finding the path that brought them.

The hive swarm ran around our walls and up to our gate. We shut it in their face and peppered them with clay bullets from above.

Deep Blue shouted: "We ain't hitting meat!": although each shattered chitin limb fell useless just as soon as with a broken bone, the cursed things seemed to feel no pain, and blocked as well as any. Hells, I worried we were letting them practice blocking:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Suddenly I saw Imp rush off downstairs, and I had an inkling she was going for the lever room. The bridge dropped and our ogres noticed the hivers. They both seemed excited to follow orders and started pulling extra arms off the invaders, and pounding them into the dirt with their fists. Neither ogre seemed to notice when stabbed with an iron spear.

The hive army broke and ran as soon as they saw the ogres. The battle was over before it began:

We didn't let the damned things go to waste. Our chief took care of the cleaning and carving himself. The human diplomat wanted to watch. Guess he was a surgeon back home. He still seemed a bit queasy at the whole prospect:

Armor made from the last thing that tries to kills you: now that's the kobold way! Next time, we'll be as tough as they are!

Since we was safe and good, I spent all winter ordering all the lazy kobolds to learn to haul and stack clay, until we had a wall built around our fishing pond and another safe enclosure I mean for a poison manufactory.  I also started building a pathway over the great abyss.  Idea being, we build a big path over the abyss, put patrols with slings on it, a few rooms in the middle, for the sake of fanciness and have the tunnel loop around and cut right into the cavern entrance mound.

We will be kobolds of legend! If we don't die first, and certainly not by this spring.

In the meanwhile, a caravan of the drow pulled close. I thought the cruel elves mocked us when they said "the craftmanship of the kobolds is legendary!", but they traded well and fair, taking a wagon load of bullets for a dozen bars of blood steel, wicked drow knives, swords and whips...and a pet:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With our new fishing enclosure the fishing industry boomed, and since that is my civilian trade, I relaxed in the sun with a fishing rod, not a machete, for once, while Meph made fish roasts so fast he started blinking. That guy is legendary!

Soon after trading, I was throwing rocks at one of the nymphs we captured, when I was told it was the first day of spring, and time to surrender the ruling stick to another ruler. I was sad I wouldn't see the project finished so I left detailed notes for the next overseer:

Make a thief tunnel: I got the 4 candles good and ready, we just need a nice spot to put it and maybe more bricks

Make a poison cookery, surface compound is just the right size and place for it: I got all the ingredients being made, I made the stuff for a shroomery but I am not sure it does anything.

Avoid the statues (they are mean)

Good luck!  Jililigisitifguf!

Sorry guys, I will have to miss my turn due to multiple exam-related real life problems. I hope the next overseer can pick up in my stead.
In the meantime, I would like to claim a kobold - preferably someone exremely likely to dismember people while laughing maniacally.

I'd love to oblige, but I finished my turn and we have no one up to take the next one: would you like to oversee this one?
