Saving blood
« on: April 17, 2013, 02:44:59 pm »

So, I've been playing in a world with really high titans, megabeasts, and night creatures, so a lot of my adventure quests are to kill night creatures. I'm playing a character who I want to become a vampire (And eventually other cool stuff), but I've read that your attributes become static when you turn. So can I kill a vampire and then store his blood in a waterskin or something? And turn when I've capped my desired stats?

I have never been able to successfully store blood.  It gets washed away the second I wade through a stream or get caught in the rain or enter a freezing biome.  There may be some way, idk.

Indeed. Pools of blood can be used to fill waterskins just like water.

What's the best way to create a pool of blood in combat? Stabs?

Create blood loss. Chopping off limbs might be just as good.

Apparently you can just pick up blood with g for some reason, and store it in containers too. Too bad near right after I turned an alligator ripped off my arm, and then a goblin axeman chopped off my other arm and both legs. Good for future knowledge however...

quivers can store 20 units of vampire blood. If your character is already a vampire then they can go to a tomb and try to get themself impaled on a spike weapon trap for their own blood, or just loot it when you get injured in combat.

you can duplicate any liquid, including blood, indefinitely by dumping it on a non-liquid absorbing floor like grass, rock block floor, or any other stone (but not soil or mud). And refilling it with a container.

Vampire blood tends to be slightly buggy, sometimes it turns you and sometimes it doesnt, this can be fixed by mixing it with another liquid like alcohol or water and drinking the mix, which works 100% of the time. Beware, dumping water laced with blood on the floor results in a clean pool of water, so you should always try to keep a container full of pure blood in reserve.

once you have several quivers full of blood, spread it throughout the world along with necromancer books that grant the knowledge of life and death so your adventurers can easily become a vampire and necromancer right away if they can find one of the nearby caches.
