The British Isles isn't big enough for both Scotland and Great Britain... Mass your forces, and prepare to take them on by force if you have to.

If you can, try to force them into an ambush situation. That's how I won some of my most glorious victories... Plowing through the enemy line when they are at their weakest with calvary!

If you can't get them, at least consider making Portugal pay for their insolent little princess. Make them pay!

Neat.  The British usually do betray Scotland, right?  It's like Rome and Gaul in RTW.  I remember doing this once, and the English kept pushing me back, until I had to flee and ship my nobles to Egypt.
Inevitably, yes. But it only happens very quickly if Scotland captures a bunch of stuff on the border, I think.

My forces are as massed as they're going to get in the short term. In order to develop the infrastructure to train and support a larger army, I'd have to disband the one that's currently making my treasury look very uncomfortably empty. I'm going to have to either attack England after Dublin and Inverness are mine, or significantly downsize my army. There's no way I'm leaving myself vulnerable to my arch nemesis, so the only smart thing to do is to migrate everything to Cyprus go to war. I don't want to lose a bunch of trustworthiness, so I'll set them up to betray me somehow.

How exactly would I go about setting that up?

If you can't get them, at least consider making Portugal pay for their insolent little princess. Make them pay!
That's an option to be considered once the British Isles are under my control. As much as I want to curb-stomp them, I have to prioritize which nemesis to wreck when.

Fine... This is true. I'll put aside my glorious disdane for Great Britain for now. That said, here is some advice that actually might be helpful!

Get that merchant overseas when you can. Merchants tend to be most effect as far away from the capital city as possible, making rugs and other goodies of the lower Mediterranean a very lucrative business. However, this tends to be a hot spot for other merchants sometimes... Hate to see yours get put out of business.

Another option would be considering sending him to the Southern half of North Africa... The trade is lucrative as well, if you know how to find it!

I'd rather have a steady income from the 3 decent trading spots in Britain than get into the risky business of sending merchants abroad right now. I know all about the amazing resources in the Sahara, it would just take too long to get someone there.

Oh my.

So he tries again next turn.

Success!

Wales goes down without a fight, and I move on to Ireland.

I beseige Dublin, and the rebels come out to play in my first actual battle thus far.

Spain dosen't like trade agreements either.

These isles aren't big enough for 2 countries. England would betray me eventually, so I'm betraying them first!

I have no need for the friendship of English scum.

Hohoho...

I've never dared to wage war with the Papacy. They simply strike me as a very, very dangerous foe to have, considering they will induce the powers of Christian Europe to destroy you. I'd wait on that goal.

However, it's never too early to start investing in getting a pope elected through mass conversion! Priest power away!

I usually do it with assassins. But calling some sort of Dark Crusade on Rome would totally be fun.

This island is only big enough for one of us, English slubberdragullians!

The Pope dosen't seem to of liked my sacking of London, he wants hostilities towards the English to cease.

Fat sodding chance ya Italian fool of a clergyman!" - King Malcom, 1118 A.D

After some campaigning, I corner England's only remaining troops and prepare for the utlimate deciding battle of Britain.

They take advantage of their position and charge my main force.

But are routed, killed, or captured by the brave Scotsmen under my command.

A crusade has been called to liberate Jerusalem from the clutches of Islam. Considering the whole "excommunicated" thing, I don't think I'll be helping out any time soon.

The British isles are now almost entirely mine.

Almost.

A poll reveals that people want me to prefer Dread over Chivalry, so I'll be sure to do a lot of prisoner executing, city sacking, and assassinating.

I approve of this Let's Play, but could you put spoiler tags around your images? This page is kind of a pain to scroll through.

Byzantium is always a bit far far away though... And now that I think about it, I've never taken it myself either.

Could be a worthy landgrab!
