"Tensions on Iberia finally break out, and war is declared."

In a world where Hannibal reduced Rome to ash and the occupants of northern Italy are known as the Portuguese, an ambitious count decides that it's time for action. In a turbulent world where nobody knows what could happen next, one certainty stands tall: Total War.

Chapter B1: A New Beginning
Chapter B2: Help! Help! I'm being Oppressed!
Micro-update where I rename Tunis to Carthage

PTW.  Once you amass enough power, just screw over the papacy as much as you can.

Why wait that long when you can play as the Moors and send a couple of boatloads to Rome by turn 20?

People seem to be in favor of Scotland, and that's what I personally want to play, so it's what I'm playing.

Conquer no more than 1 province every X (10?) turns, and it should be interesting.

I'm asking this, because as well all know Total War AI falls apart when player is aggressive. (which begs the question : Is it made specifically for people who bunker up?)

I intend to blitz England's British holdings then build up on my island until the time is perfect for attacking the mainland. As long as I maintain a decent navy, I'm not under much of a threat from anybody after step 2.

Theme music for this post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fab7xIaXj8E

The time is Anno Domini MLXXX. The place is the Mediterranean. The event?

(I admit, that was cheesy as hell)

The glorious kingdom of Scotland makes excellent use of spears and pikes, but is lacking in cavalry and the nobles often prefer to fight on foot. It has only the holding of Edinburgh to start with, and presently has no missions, map knowledge beyond Scottish territory, or diplomatic relations. I order the construction of a port in Edinburgh, crank the taxes up to 11, recruit a diplomat and merchant, and consolidate nearly all my troops.

The official objective is to hold 45 provinces including Jerusalem within 225 turns (450 years), but we'll be setting our own goals, starting with domination of the British Isles. I'm playing on medium campaign and battle difficulty. Battle time limits and management of all settlements are enabled.

On turn 2, the council of nobles suggests that the settlement of York be taken. I have no objection.

I decide to take stock of my situation, and order a census and overview be taken. Below is the data from the first ever Magma Carter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I send a diplomat to talk with England, and we arrive at this deal. Hopefully our alliance will keep them from attacking me for a while

York is under seige, and will either lash out or surrender in 2 turns (4 in game years).

Please leave constructive feedback and suggestions for the course of the game. The big questions right now are whether our Scotland will trend towards Dread or Chivalry, and if we should respect the papacy. Personally I'd like to be a dreadful excommunicated powerhouse, but it's up to the forum.

Go with dreadful, excommunicate Scottish hordes. It'll be like the Reformation happened early, and only Scotland was invited (I kid, I kid).

Also your plan is missing one crucial element: France getting ganked by Milan. Or at least that's how most of my games turned out. If England is distracted things might turn out differently. Who can say? (Also, posting to watch)

I intend to make several more hypothetical scenarios for the forum to consider, and I'll add an attack on Milan to the list just for you.

York goes down without a fight. I (mostly) peacefully occupy and install Scottish governance.

My reward for taking York is 4 ships... 3 of which I disband so I won't go bankrupt from unit upkeep.

Wales has a slightly lower acceptance of Catholicism than the rest of Britan, so I send a missionary over.

But heretic appears, so I dispatch my cardinal to burn him at the stake.

I have brought a diplomat to the mainland. I will make contact with France, the Iberian powers, Milan, the HRE, and Denmark in that order.

We forge an alliance with France. If England decides to betray me, my new friends will have cassus beli to take Caen.

Portugal dosen't like giving me trade rights for some reason (Can someone who understands MTW2 AI please explain why?). Note to self: Curstomp them if I invade Iberia.

England has an army hidden in the woods near Nottingham. (Is it just me, or do they always do this?)

My relations with England improve due to the whole me not trying to kill them thing. If they don't betray me soon, we might be at peace for a while! What a horrible thought!

Music for the next section

And that's the end of the events of the first 20 years of My rule, but things are about to heat up.

NEXT TIME ON SCOT-BALL-Z: THE CLIMACTIC BATTLE OF THE SEIGE OF WALES! (Or the anticlimactic surrender do to attrition)

OUR BRAVE CARDINAL WILL FIGHT TO BRING THE BLASPHEMER TO JUSTICE!

...And this guy will sit around monopolizing tin.

Neat.  The British usually do betray Scotland, right?  It's like Rome and Gaul in RTW.  I remember doing this once, and the English kept pushing me back, until I had to flee and ship my nobles to Egypt.
