Ah, well, that's pretty similar with what I'm trying to do.
I'm using anchoring with my middle finger but I'm pushing a bit, just enough to feel my canine through the lip; since the lip itself often moves around.

And gap shooting... yeah. I guess it takes time to master it, I've found myself unable to properly use it, and I kind of gave up. I'm sort-of trying to shoot instinctively.
Things are overly complicated, since I'm a strongly right-handed man, but my dominant eye is... the left. *sigh*.

I'm right handed and left eye dominant too. I feel you. I almost made this bow left handed
