A lot of sewer design depends on local climate, especially flood risk, about as much as it does population. Smalltown USA, if it sits in a flood-prone area, will likely have massive sewer systems to accommodate the drainage. A city perched on a mountaintop, on the other hand, could do with far less.

Main for a bit of an area up the hill has 3 1.5ish diameter drains that come out. Its walkable, but it doesn't go anywhere in particular. You can get out at manholes on the far end i've heard. its local small drains feeding into it where it comes out into an open air drain for about 500m and into a creek, right in front of our house. We have a lot of hills and natural creeks that people were smart enough to not build in, so while there's some lengths of big underground storm water drain, there's no real network of underground stuff.

Also we're a good 1-200 years less old than the USA, being in Australia, so that effects city infrastructure a bit.

I was under the impression that the giant sewer systems that feature in video games were an artifact from places like London and Paris that decided to build sewer systems out of stone ages ago, and required pretty much constant on site maintenance. New ones are just pipes aren't they?

...Dammit.

Now I feel like a bit of an idiot. The small town sewers that I've climbed are in a town that is right in the middle of a valley. The ones I've done in STL are right next to the Mississippi river.

So, Dzohkar is holed up in a boat on a trailer behind a house.  Police just saw movement.  They're reticent to move in, as would be expected when the suspect is wanted for a bombing.  They believe they wounded him during a chase.

I'm getting multiple sources stating he's cornered, and the lockdown has been lifted.

God I hope they take him alive. I really want to know his motivations.

The lockdown was lifted a couple hour ago, before they knew his location.

Yeah, Boston lifted the lockdown earlier today but most people took the day off anyway.

And now the boat is on fire.  That about settles it then.

By Jah, if I was him, I would not want to be taken alive.  Gonna be treated like garbage, isolated and probably executed after all that.

Well, damn. Here's hoping the cops didn't set it on fire. Not that I think they would, especially since that would require getting close to the maniac with the suicide vest.

What if, he doesn't die? Might survive with bad wounds.

Here's hoping.

Mostly. If I remember correctly, even if you could fit inside one(which might be possible at a few select points), the air inside is so toxic that you need and air-quality detector at all times, which if it starts beeping, you've got about 5 seconds to say "Oh fuck".

Depends on the city though. The Boston area is fairly old, although the suburbs would likely have more modern sewage lines.

Beware, as that's the way you get the likes of Batman villains...

(Mixing fiction with reality?  Surely not...  Just make sure his prison/asylum hasn't got a revolving door, though.)
