ITT: We act like DF2013 is out
« on: April 13, 2013, 05:29:11 am »

So guys, could anyone share the screenshots of the deep dwarven sites?
I haven't had an opportunity to visit them yet (damn goblin towns everywhere) and I would really love to see how they look like.

I can share some screenshots of goblin towers and army camps, though.

You run into the parry bug yet? I had a mountain lion charge at me, get parried and fly straight up until it hit the invisible sky roof. Rained gibs for miles. Glorious.
Screenshots won't do it justice, sorry.

I'm just about ready to give up DF, guys. I've tried to run it on three laptops and they all gained sentience without fail. It's annoying. I'm down to my PC now. I hope it works this time.

Are you implying that DF is not supposed to gain sentience?
It's now called a "feature".

Have you ever had them get parried into the ground? They immediately reach terminal velocity and just explode. It's glorious until a flying gib hits your adventurer in the head.

Then it's hilarious.

I always seem to end up with a magnificent burial complex and nowhere near enough bodies to fill it, or far too many bodies and nowhere to put any of them.

Those new trees are great. Flooding the world with magma causes branches to cave-in on enemy heads!

I just latched onto a kobold's head, arms, legs and lower body with each of my character's teeth and shook them all at the same time. The result... is not pretty. Teeth are definitely overpowered.
In other news, it appears that in some unique cases you can hold more than one severed limb in your mouth.

(And so am I. Simultaneous attacks are a thing of the future, and, I imagine, they'd allow for a number of amusing bugs to arise.)

(you can already bite multiple things at once, is the issue)

(But that issue can only be truly explored when you are able to perform several attacks at once, which, in current version, you are not.
Anyway, why are we even arguing? My point was to remind people that not only will we enjoy new bugs in the upcoming version, the old ones will also gain new life. Is there a problem with that?)

(we aren't arguing, I'm just highly pedantic about DF :P you won't be able to bite multiple times in one turn next version unless you have multiple heads--as of now, however, you can bite four times in succession in four different places and latch on to all)

Turns out, the mountain lion (The Vindictive Singer of Masses) became legendary. I, uuh... guess reaching the highest peak without really being able to fly does that.
